Out-of-Town Scoreboard - Superbowl Sunday
Montreal is leading Phoenix 2-0 in the first period. Tokarski gives Carey Price the day off.
St. Louis and Washington tied at 1 in the second. Backes just got a game misconduct for boarding. Good player, but I see a pattern with Backes and disregard for other players. Ovechkin becomes the 5th player in NHL history to score 30+ goals in their first 10 seasons. The other four players are Gretzky, Bossy, Kurri and Gartner.
Nashville and Pittburgh is just underway.
Minnesota visits Vancouver in under an hour.

the first four goals of the day were scored by
Alex Galchenyuk
Alex Galchenyuk
Alex Steen
Alex Ovechkin
now Roman Josi scores ... combo-breaker. Lame.

As an aside, not sure why's it stuck with me, but I remember the Flames playing against Buffalo, on SB Sunday, when Buffalo was playing in the SB later that day.
Probably because the crowd was sparse in the old Aud, I think, and Whalen etc were talking about that so much. Had to be 1991 or 92.

Ovechkin scores his 2nd of the game after a brutal giveaway by Bouwmeester. 2-2.

Backes got kicked out of the Blues game - Boarded Alzner from behind, facial injury. Probably won't be too much in the way of supplemental discipline though.
And Obechkin ties it at 2.

January 27, 1991. We won 5-4. Gilmour, T. Hunter, Makarov, MacInnis and Nieuwendyk scored for us. Mogilny (2), Turgeon and Kennedy for the Sablres.

The Predators lead 2-0 late in the second period and have had the two goal since the first period. I am surprised how well Carter Hutton has been in goal for the Predators since Rinne was injured.
The consensus for the Wild-Canucks game would be to have the game end in regulation time. What team do Flames fans want to see win?

Van for sure, they aren't going to take a playoff spot a way from us and likely end the season 4 points up on us. Minnesota can still catch us. So it pains me, but hopefully the Canucks win.

It looks like the road teams have the advantage today.
The Coyotes hang on for the 3-2 regulation victory. The rookie goalie, Louis Domingue was awesome in net for the Coyotes and had his family in the stands watching him. Ekman-Larsson tied the game with a conventional goal and not from his own blue line. The winning goal came on the power play and was scored in Korpikoskian fashion.
The Blues also hung on for a 4-3 regulation road win. It was a wide open affair as both teams combined for 76 shots!

Disagree. Vrbata was standing with both feet in the crease and made no attempt to remove himself from the crease. He was clearly in a position to interfere and did.
