Watching the Montreal-Washington game, its pretty good.
-Ovechkin had a 4 minute shift.
-Carey Price got a standing ovation after the Capitals hit the post twice.
-Yemelin had a hilarious dive
-Gallagher apparently got canned in the groin but I missed it.

I concur, that was a playoff game and the Habs win a thriller in sudden death overtime. PJ Stock and John Shannon also commented about the playoff atmosphere.

They could meet in the first round, though there's lots of potential matchus. The East will be interesting this year.

Detroit beat the Islanders 4-1 and the Senators are well on their way to victory leading 6-2 over the Coyotes.

Low scoring games so far. The Jets recently tied the game from Ladd but the Stars score on the power play again, 2-1 Stars. Rangers are also up 2-1 and the Devils are up 2-0 in the battle of former Canuck goalies.
The Bruins lead 1-0 and so do the Flyers and Lightning in their respective games.

The Stars are shining on the power play, 3-1 now as all three goals have been scored with the man advantage. All games mentioned are in the second intermission.
Flashback
It was eight years ago (February 24, 2007 to be exact) when the Leafs and Flyers were cellar dwellers in the eastern conference. Those two teams were the national game on HNIC except for viewers in the Ottawa area that saw the Sabres-Senators game. The latter were in a home-away series where there was a massive brawl in Buffalo two nights earlier. It was the talk everywhere and the CBC did not even do a slight increase in distribution for that game. Viewers outside of Ontario were not watching basement teams.
The additional games Sportsnet provides on Saturdays is terrific because not every game involving canadian teams is a marquee game. This is a major improvement from the ignorant CBC who would not give a damn about its viewers from the other nine provinces and three territories.

Right now the Bruins - Kings game has the most impact on our PO chances, so I'm now a Bruins fan.

Here's another flashback where the guy really really wanted to watch the Leafs.
Quote:
Brian Spencer was drafted in the fifth Round, 55th overall by the Toronto Maple Leafs in the 1969 NHL Entry Draft. On December 12, 1970, when Spencer was called up to play with the Leafs in what would be his first NHL game on television, he telephoned his father Roy in British Columbia to tell him to watch the game that night on Hockey Night in Canada. Spencer was to be interviewed between periods of the game. However, a game featuring the Vancouver Canucks versus the California Golden Seals was aired instead. Infuriated, Roy Spencer drove 135 kilometres (84 mi) to Prince George, where the closest CBC Television station, CKPG-TV, is located. When he arrived, he ordered station staff, at gunpoint, to broadcast the Maple Leafs game instead. The station complied, but as Roy Spencer left the station, he was confronted by the RCMP. After a brief stand-off Roy Spencer was shot and killed.[2][3]
