Still no word on the money part of the deal. Should be interesting. I like Leddy, but 7 year deals scare me a bit.

A little higher than I was expecting. Not terrible though.

Nice pay day for Leddy, 38.5 million over 7 years.

So would people say that Leddy is a top pairing 1-2 D man?

Yup.

~$5M is going to be the new standard fee for a 2nd pairing defenseman pretty soon.

Do they have room to re-sign Boychuk?

The rare backloaded contract:

Craig Custance @CraigCustance
Breakdown of the Leddy salary: $4 million, $4.5 million, $5 million, $5.5 million, $6 million, $6.5 million & $7 million in the last year.

I think they will actually, Viznovskys deal runs out at the end of the year too.

They need to re-sign Boychuk , Nelson, Hickey, Lee, and a couple other lesser parts but I don't see how they'll have a problem getting them all under the cap for next season.

Don't the Islanders have an internal cap though?

A gradually increasing salary would make him harder to trade later, not easier.
