Default Missing Man Found

Looks like he's been found dead, sadly. The part that gets me is that the majority of comments I've already seen are along the lines of "How could you not know that there was a body in your backyard for 4 months?"

It's very sad. I post with some of his family on a FB group. They're understandably devastated.

Sad news, saw a lot of effort from the family to find him for the past while.

Sad situation for sure.

Seems thats a valid question though. I suppose some people dont spend much time in their back yard? He has been missing since September. 6 months does seem like a long time to not be in your backyard.

Horribly sad although I'm a bit confused. The article did allude to the fact the body may have been there for many months but is it possible he was missing and then died recently? The article doesn't really specify how long the body was there. If it was there that long that is absolutely horrifying.

Found in a Tree? so off the ground? or in a hollow of a tree? that seems odd to me as well. If in a tree off the ground would you not see this out a back window?

I think it was a big fir tree. It's complete conceivable if the tree was big enough that you wouldn't be able to see inside easily. About 10 years ago Central Memorial Park had homeless guys living up inside the big fir trees and you would never have known they were there from the outside.

There's speculation and rumours that it was suicide. It's why it's not being treated as suspicious and the details are sparse.

I don't find it particularly odd that it took that long to find the body. I have a backyard set up that if someone were to be in my tree, I likely wouldn't notice until the first family BBQ I have in the summer.

Could be as morbid as not paying direct attention and thinking it was just a tireswing or something.

Not to be too morbid, but wouldn't you smell the decomposition? I had a squirrel die behind my shed on an area of our property that is fairly out of the way. It couldn't have been there more than a week before the smell led me to it. You would think that a human corpse would give off quite a stench.

Granted, it would have been frozen for a long period between late September and now, but Calgary gets some warm periods in between (assuming he has been there the whole time).

What a grisly discovery that would be though. That person is probably scarred for life.

At the end of the Herald article you can see it saying "he was feeling depressed" so yeah guessing at hinting at a suicide..

That and the possibility of increased wildlife (birds) would probably be indicators. In this case, considering the neighbours didn't investigate either, it seems logical that if there was a smell it might have been mistaken for something like garden compost or not strong enough to investigate.

This is my son's TaeKwonDo instructor's son.

Needless to say, it has been a rough 6-months on them. I hope that they can proceed in the healing process more effectively now.

Just to be sensitive to those close to him - let's not speculate on the specifics of how he maybe did this. Just too morbid.

I used to train under Paul too and still go to that gym.

Rough ending but the closure will be welcomed I'm sure.
