Outside of the events in Moncton, it seems like RCMP seem to be shot at more often in Alberta. Is that right, or am I just imagining that?

Yeah, quiet morning here for sure. Concerning as I play slow pitch with some RCMP guys from the city here.

Sounds like the suspect killed himself. *sigh*
I sure hope the cops pull through.

One of the cops was an Auxiliary officer - they don't carry a gun believe it or not. RCMP better look at changing that policy.

No, they should not be armed. They are basically a community watch program. They are unpaid volunteers. They are not police officials.

If you armed them they would be a militia.

Yeah, the suspect is dead.
Quote:
Officers tracked the suspect to a nearby rural home. When they entered the house, they found him dead. The RCMP said they did not speak to the man or fire their weapons.
Rehn's Facebook page lists him as former pipe fitter who had previously studied at the Northern Alberta Institute of Technology in Edmonton.

I'm not disappointed that the guy offed himself. Does that make me a bad person?

I'd like to think Moncton, rightly, has set precedence for the kind of sentence you'll face for shooting cops in Canada. Dude probably made a good choice.

Doesn't sound good about the one officer still in hospital. An article I just read said he was shot in the head at close range. Awful.

****, I had my hopes up with a recent article I saw that said he was recovering in hospitable. I guess they probably meant in more general terms than an actual favorable update.
That's awful.
