Did you know
That the Nashville Predators logo being a saber tooth tiger has to do with when excavators found the remains of a sabertooth cat during the construction of the First National Bank building in downtown Nashville in the 1970s.
I always thought their logo was a bit random considering it's Nashville.
Anyone else have other bizarre stories about the history of logos?

I did not know that!
I've wondered where it came from so thanks for answering that for me.

This SN article goes over how each NHL team was named, which sheds some insight to the logo's. Interesting stuff..

Wow, people in San Jose have terrible naming ideas....
Rubber Puckies, Screaming Squids, Salty Dogs??
Was also wondering why Atlanta was there and Winnipeg wasn't, but then I noticed the article date.

Unfortunatelly, it doesn't expalin why they have a 3-star Dragonball as shoulder patches.
i recall someone saying it has to do with the State of Tennessee, please correct me if i'm wrong, because i'm more likely to believe they wasted their wish from Shenron to bring Alexander Radulov back from the KHL for 9 regular season games and 8 playoff games

Well the question now is why does Tennessee have a 3-star Dragon ball on their flag?

Florida Panthers - Franchise owner, and Blockbuster Video owner, Wayne Huizenaga picked the name because he wanted to draw attention to the Panther, as the native wildcat of Florida was endangered at the time.

That's actually pretty cool.

Boston Bruins got their colors at that time brown yellow white from the owner Adam's Grocery chain and the name Bruins were both created by GM Art Ross. (Yes that Art Ross) Bruin was an old world term for a bear.
A Brown Bear looked better than a Black Bear even though there are no Brown Bears in Massachusetts.

Yeah really. I recall some people thinking it was a tornado. It looked like a bear the first moment I saw it.
Although, it did start the debate about whether it was a bear or a cat (I was firmly entrenched on the bear side). But then someone pointed out that it is more like a wolverine or badger, which actually makes sense.

I can't believe that the Islanders almost went with Ducks.

I'm still surprised at the number of people who mistakenly think it's a bear, and not a cat, which all rightly-thinking people like myself clearly realize.

That's when it's safe to say the logo designer has failed. You can't see it unless you're looking for it as the logo is too busy.
Honestly, with the sun ear it looks more like a rat than a bear..
