Default Multiple Shootings in Langley, BC - Unhoused Targeted

Link

Quote:
Police have confirmed several victims after a series of shootings at multiple locations in Langley, B.C., prompted emergency alerts on Monday. The first alert, issued just after 6:15 a.m. PT, reported "multiple shooting scenes" in the downtown core of the City of Langley and one "incident" in the neighbouring Township of Langley. The alert included a description of a suspect.

Police confirmed one man had been arrested just before 7 a.m., but said officers were still determining whether the suspect acted alone. "We do have a male suspect in custody. However, we are ruling out any other outstanding individuals before we stand the emergency alert down," said Sgt. Rebecca Parslow. Parslow said there were several victims, but did not specify how many. She said the victims were homeless and that police believe the attack was targeted.

At least one person has died, as the Integrated Homicide Investigation Team (IHIT) is responding to the incident. Police have established several crime scenes just a few kilometres apart: one at Willowbrook Mall, another at Cascades Casino on Fraser Highway and a third near a thrift store and bus loop at Logan Avenue and Glover Road. In the parking lot of Willowbrook Mall, a black police vehicle was seen riddled with at least nine bullet holes. The first emergency alert described the suspect as a white man with dark hair who was wearing brown Carhartt coveralls and a blue and green camouflage T-shirt with a red logo on the right sleeve. The notice said he was connected to a white car, but did not say whether police had identified a make or model.

Lots of gun violence in and around Vancouver now. First news of this sounds so far like it may be a mass shooting targeting people with no relationship to the attacker. Quite sad. Hopefully full details come out soon.

This is after another public shooting only yesterday around noon in Whistler right outside of a hotel. The village was locked down after 2 men were killed and a 3rd was injured. One of the dead was the brother of another man shot dead a year or two ago outside of Cardero's in Coal Harbour. At that shooting, he had chased down the gunman that killed his brother and stabbed him in the eye. There's one more brother of the three.

Less than a week ago, Joe Rogan said on his podcast, "Maybe you should just go and shoot the homeless people." I'm sure this is purely a coincidence.

And it follows another shooting and double homicide in Chilliwack on Friday for which the shooter still hasn't been caught.

Gang activity has been high in the lower mainland for a while this year. But the Langley situation is not gang related. Wife was in the area filming when the alert went off. Thankfully not too close but security was still put on high alert.

And we were pretty much parked in the exact spot in Whistler just a month or so ago where the two were gunned down on the weekend.

The gang shootings have been building up for some time now, and keep getting more and more brazen, with more and more innocent bystanders being hurt:

https://globalnews.ca/news/8670051/v...ng-death-2018/

https://www.cbc.ca/news/canada/briti...tims-1.6322855

These things seem to roll in waves. Every so often a new gang will break out and come into conflict with the existing ones. This sparks a large round of deaths.

He's being sarcastic akin to "A Modest Proposal".

Take it easy there.

Rogan’s way too dumb for that.

I can't stand Rogan but ya hes being 100% sarcastic here, using it as a commentary on his view of LA violent crime lack of enforcement. He does have a platform and should be mindful of what he says, but you cannot always cater your voice to how the craziest of the crazy will interpret you.

Sounds like he's mostly annoyed that poor people have property rights. How dare they!

If someone went shooting homeless people after listening to Rogan, that's on their mental illness and not on Rogan. I'm no fan of his and found his comments around the homeless a bit distasteful and lacking empathy, but anyone trying to pin this shooting on Rogan based on current info is just using the events of the day to wage their own crusade, which is at least as distasteful when it seems that innocent and vulnerable people have been shot.

2 dead plus the shooter also killed by police.
1 lady in critical condition still and one other man shot in the leg.

We woke up to emergency alerts on our phones here, crazy morning.
So sad for the innocent victims.

They make it seem the SUV was shot at by the the shooter, but those are 100% from the cop shooting from inside.

You're judging that by the straight line of bullet holes across the windshield?

Ya I am not a Rogan fan but to think that him saying something like that was clearly tongue in cheek would cause someone to literally shoot homeless people, that is not on Rogan, that is on the ####### who did this. Not a great time for gun crime in BC.

Ya, the odds of a street shooter at a distance putting a nice line across like that? Nil. That's eyelevel for a cop shooting, if that wasn't him shooting, he'd be dead if he was sitting there.

This is really a bit of a strange incident based on the spread of the shootings… sucks to hear about as I did read about the one in whistler as well
