Default Community Supported Agriculture/Farm Shares

I did a quick search and couldn't find anything on this topic.

Anyway, I'm looking into taking part in CSA, just wondering if anyone has had experience with it. Any advice? Any growers that are good... Or avoid?
Thanks you!

So you're essentially thinking of becoming a Hutterite? Can you actually grow a beard?

The proletarian state must effect the transition to collective farming with extreme caution and only very gradually, by the force of example, without any coercion of the middle peasant.

By taking part, I totally don't mean growing... more or less paying into it and getting a product out of it...

I like that it'd all be locally grown here in Calgary.

We do it with a few farmers and it's awesome. The fruit and veggies are noticeably better tasting and we much prefer supporting the local farmer than big companies. We pick all but GEH up at Hillhurst farmers market.

Eagle Creek Farms for veggies
Noble Gardens for veggies
Country Thyme for poultry and grain
Green Eggss and Ham for various herbs and duck products. Try the duck bacon it's amazing. They supply duck to lots of local restaurants.

Check these guys out. http://www.seedstogreens.ca . Its a lovely retired couple who decided to start a little farm. They are located close to the Calgary Corn maze in the Deep se of calgary. I know they relish any kind of volunteer help with weeding as it is all organic and a lot of work. They also won't hesitate to educate you or your little ones on farming know-how.

Their strawberries were delicious, and well priced for being hail-damaged, perfect for smoothies.

We also did eagle creek last year. Really liked it, but just a little too much food for two of us.

Yes. Good choice.

I signed up for Noble Gardens (half share and an egg share). Looking forward to eating healthier.
