PEBBLE BEACH, Calif. -- The Winnipeg Jets are set to celebrate their fifth anniversary in the NHL with an outdoor game in the winter of 2016.
Jets chairman Mark Chipman confirmed Monday the league and True North have agreed to play a Heritage Classic at Winnipeg's Investors Group Field two seasons from now.

It would make the most sense if the opponent is Calgary or Edmonton, but the league seems to like doing the East vs. West thing, so it'll probably be Toronto.

About time, I figured they would get one as soon as the stadium was open.
Its looks like they are trying to leverage the temporary seating costs with Winnipegs bid to host the 2015 grey cup. You just keep the temp seats for another 2-3 months at a far lower cost than setting them up again the next year.

Voted for Kodos
They'll have to build a proper press box first, I imagine - though, if they get the Grey cup before that, it will already be done.

Ah the only "good" thing about Winnipeg, it's miserable enough all winter to have an outdoor game with good ice.

Not a bad idea. Tired of the eastern teams getting in on the action all the time. Too bad there won't be much of an audience from Arizona for it.

I think the Heritage Classic is supposed to be between two Canadian teams, so I think it's doubtful you're going to see Phoenix or any other American team playing in it.

Holy ####, talk about having to man up.
I think the team will be either Oilers or Flames. Heritage classic is between to Cdn teams.

It makes a lot of sense to have Calgary play in it. They could call it the Atlanta Heritage Classic, being that both teams moved from there.

Lame. Jets suck, Winnipeg sucks. Hope Flames aren't subjected to it.

Yes I'm all in for the Thrashers Cup!
Both teams have to wear their Atlanta-era jerseys!

Actually Winnipeg does not suck. In the summer it is a beautiful city with lots to do. Some of my most enjoyable nights have been spent in Winnipeg (including those in the winter). It is obvious you never spent any time at The Royal Albert. It was a sad day when the Grant was torn down.

Why? (not to be a dick).
I would think it would be a western team.
