QOTD: How does Drew Shore look in his Flame debut?
Since I was a kid I always loved first games for new players in a Calgary uniform. Guys up from the farm are fun, but guys acquired by trade were always my favourite.
I was at the dome when Joey Mullen played his first game in a Flames uniform ... that was electric.
That Jokinen game on TV, I think it was Philly was a huge tease, but exciting nonetheless.
Along with those and others are very basic first games for a host of acquired players like Blake Comeau, Jason Wiemer, Marcus Nilson, Shean Donovan, Marc Bureau, Chris Lindberg, or a Nick Fotiu.
Some memorable, some completely unmemorable.
I would guess Drew Shore on a scale of 1 (who cares) and 10 (can't believe we got this guy!) will come in somewhere in the middle, but how does he do tonight?

I think he'll fit right in imo, just won't hit the score sheet just yet.

He's got a lot to process. I won't hold him having an off game against him.

I'm thinking invisible and I don't think that's a bad thing at all. I think it's a bit much to expect him to step in on a new team and play well right away. I just think that he'll play a solid game but not really do anything extremely good or extremely bad. Being invisible means that you haven't really done anything bad and that's what I'm expecting of him. It would be great if he does well but as long as he doesn't do poorly, I'll be happy.

I predict that he gets an assist, but otherwise looks like a young player adjusting to a new system.

He wins someone the Safeway Score & Win
However due to a clerical error with her name spelled incorrectly by someone on a form down the line Safeway voids the prize.

I didn't see too many debuts at the Dome, but I was there for Iginla's debut in the playoffs against Chicago. There's nothing quite like the excitement of potential.

Jason Weimer. Now there was a guy who shocked and amazed everyone in his game for the Flames. I recall even the broadcasters saying that wouldn't happen again.......and it didn't.
I think Shore slots in and looks decent. Nothing flash, and no points.
The question I want answered is "who is Drew Shore to the organization". I still don't quite get what they did by acquiring him, so hopefully in the next few games we all find out.

For me, it was Conroy comming back. He had a great game and the atmosphere was amazing. He really had great chemistry with Iggy.

Taking a while to get to 5000

Recent history suggests he will score. Hanowski, Gaudreau, I'm sure I'm forgetting others. Monahan? Baertschi? They scored in their first game up.

They got him for the role they wanted Colborne for (big 3rd line C). Burke is on record many times mentioning how they want Colborne to play centre. Once they realized Colborne was going to be a permanent fixture
on wing I'm guessing they started shopping.
Funny the similarity in situations of the 2 players, the waivers scenario, and how Dave Bolland arguably stole a job from both guys.

For me it looks like an upgrade. That Centre isn't really one of our big needs is why it looks puzzling but as team depth, everything helps.

Hoping for a solid debut. I agree, it's fun seeing new guys join the team midseason.

Hmm, I went with poor as I think he might struggle a bit in his first game and be directly responsible for a goal, this is a whole new system for him. I don't hold it against him and I like what he's been advertised as, I think it probably takes him a few games to get up to speed.
All that said, I think the Flames win tonight!

Robert's first game back from that long break with the neck injury. I know it's not the same as a trade, but even as a young kid that night was pretty magical.

I'm expecting a big game out of Colborne and Shore tonight. They seem to be good friends and sometimes that little extra spark is what separates a Goal from a shot on net. Hopefully they can build some chemistry and become a solid duo like Gaudreau/Hudler.

Easily Olli Jokinen.
I remember being pumped that him and Iginla seemed to have instant chemistry.

Me too. He looked so good against Philly and I was so jacked. I didn't realize it was all down hill from there.

Wasn't Brathwaite or Trefilov got a shut out for the Flames on their first game in Calgary's uniform?
