You're a loose cannon Bobrovsky!

Only Henrik Lundqvist will carry a higher AAV among NHL goalies than Sergei Bobrovsky next season.

He's only 26, so the term is pretty great. The dollars are pretty high, but that's what happens when you win a Vezina I guess.

That's a good deal imo. A lot of cap yes, but he's in his prime right now.

Heh. The title is very apt and Bobrovsky is smiling like a doughnut.

Contract values will continue to rise with the cap.. High numbers will be the new norm.

At least it was not one of those 7 year contracts

With the Canadian dollar dropping almost every week, I doubt the cap is going up much, if at all.

I'd think the BJs likely paid .50-1.0m per year to get that term down to only 4 years.
It's a good deal for both sides.

Aww, the Oiler fans in my office will be so sad he re-signed in Columbus. He was going to be the solution to everything.

I agree, a 4 year x 7.425m deal looks way better than a 5 year x 7m or a 6 year x 6m. It's worth it.

That's a really high cap hit for a goalie, but at least the term isn't overly long.
Expensive, but the Jackets are a better team with him in net.
Wonder what Johansen thinks of it?

Really interesting that the team and player went with dollars over term.

Initial reaction was this seems high but more I think about it it seems pretty fair. Even if the cap hit is a bit higher than you'd like the short term makes up for it. Young tender who won a Vezina and it would be tough to find a better replacement without giving up assets.
