It could very well be an accidental change on the transponder to the code 7500. So far that code showing up on the flight tracker FlightRadar24 is the only thing people are going on with this.

Landed in Puerto Vallarta apparently. The flight originated in Vancouver.

There is no abnormal behavior from WestJet flight #2154. We expect it to land shortly in Puerto Vallarta.

Not to nitpick, but I would probably just change the word "unconfirmed" to be "false".
From the main screen, it still looks like title that could freak some people out unnecessarily.

Have done so... To be honest I struggled even starting a thread on this considering how large an accusation it was an the chance it was a false alarm... Only did it because genuine media outlets began discussing it, never would have posted it if it was just generic internet rumours mentioned by random people.
