Not that the situation itself isn't messed up, but some of the details make it sound even worse. Blown out windows of the restaurant, burned out SUV.

RCMP are also investigating a fourth death in an industrial area near Sherwood Park where a body was found in a burned-out vehicle.

The downtown core of Fort Saskatchewan was closed Tuesday morning for a police investigation but has since reopened. However, police tape remains around the VN Express Vietnamese and Chinese Restaurant.

Windows and doors of the restaurant appear to be blown out. A Mercedes SUV with a smashed side window is parked in front.

Moe Assiff was going out on a midnight McDonald’s run when he noticed police outside a house across the street. He stopped beside a white Toyota Scion parked outside the home. A man and a woman sat inside and they were “white as a ghost,” Assiff said. Assiff said he asked if everything was all right and the man looked at the house and then said, “No, it’s personal.”

That car had been in the house’s driveway over the past couple of weeks, but he’d never seen it before that. It remains at the scene

Around 1:30 a.m., Assiff saw the woman talking to a police officer. “She started screaming her head off,” Assiff said. “She let out the biggest scream I’ve ever heard in my life.”

And looks like the restaurant had blown out windows due to the Police:

Laurie, an employee at Auntie Sue’s Restaurant across VN Express, said she heard a commotion outside the restaurant at 6:30 a.m. She saw a heavy police presence, including a SWAT team, a robot and a police dog. An officer yelled through a megaphone to someone inside the restaurant, telling them to “Come out with your hands up.”

The woman didn’t see or hear anyone respond. Police then rammed a police vehicle through the front of the restaurant.

Very strange this morning going through dt as normal but it was all blocked off. A girl I work with said she heard it was a bomb threat called in to city hall, which is more or less a block away. Guess not.

Dt was still blocked off at lunch, but I saw guys in the white hazmat suits or whatever they are going in and out of the VN place. It's bizarre I've been in there a few times. Seemed to be a typical youngish family with a small kid and mom and dad working in the kitchen.

Don't really know all the details yet.

Jesus this story is wild. Reportedly seven homicides are from one scene and the other two scenes are one homicide. Largest mass killing in Alberta since 1879.

It sounds as though the suspect/killer was shot/killed in the restaurant is Fort Saskatchewan.

Two children and one other woman were also in the same house as one of the 4. The ninth was the shooter who was the husband of one of the four employees.
