At the game I was increasingly frustrated by the lack of intensity from the Flames. They seemed to be making mistakes because they weren't moving their feet. Shots were for the most part directed right at Lundqvist. So many mental errors.. they looked like a team that was feeling down and didn't think they deserved to be in the game from the onset.

I really hope they can get out of these doldrums they find themselves in and get back that swagger and confidence that they belong in the hunt.

Seeing Hayes playing along side Gaudreau again would be amazing. The pair had such chemistry in Boston.

I totally agree with this sentiment. Ya it is cliché, losing streaks start before the losing does and winning streaks start before the winning, but I think there is some truth to it. It's the little things that are breaking down a couple times a game and they are just ending up in the back of the net.

Fatigue might be playing a large role in the mental breakdowns and the Christmas break would be exactly the thing to help solve that. Also with a couple games against the Oilers coming up hopefully that will get the ship back on track.

The stats guys were right that statistics showed the play was unsustainable and the Flames were due for a drop, well I argue now that those same statistics show that the Flames are playing better than before but losing so they are due for a good winning streak too.

This season is all gravy, no one expected anything from the Flames so all of the winning has just been fun, but honestly one of the last things I want is another 11th-14th pick.

Teams have figured out how to counter the active Flames defense and it's resulting in odd man rushes that are ending up in the back of the net. Combine that with the fact that the forwards have gone cold is a recipe for losing. This losing streak started with the team losing close games but the losses have regressed into bad losses as the Penguins and Rangers never had to break a sweat to collect their wins. The way they are playing I honestly don't see where they will win again. Say what you want about the Oilers but they have been playing their opponents closer than the Flames. This team badly needs to meet an opponent that is on a bad night just to gain some confidence.

Not really all that upset though as I still feel this team could use another top 5 draft pick in the long run as defensive depth in the organization is poor.

Sadly this current skid has almost reached Oiler proportions. You could at least take a few positives from some of these recent games, but last night was especially brutal. For the first time in a while, the Flames were just plain terrible in all areas of the game. You can tell they're a fragile team right now. Gripping the sticks and making stupid plays that they weren't making earlier in the season. I really hope they can find a way to turn it around. But I agree, with the way they're playing right now, it's hard to be optimistic. Maybe Dallas is the cure? Please Flames, just end the misery already. Don't ruin Christmas for us.

Holy pessimism! How bad would the Flames have to play from here on out to end up with a top 5 pick? .150?

We may have lost 6 in a row but we're only 2 points out of 2nd in the Pacific Division.

To get a top 5 pick this team would have to completely implode on a "black hole" scale.
