Unfortunate that we play Pittsburgh tomorrow, we could use a break to regroup.
Effort was there across most of the lineup, and most would say we outplayed them tonight. But, Buffalo's goaltending has been breaking a lot of hearts lately. They are the lowest scoring team in the league during their hot streak here. That says a ton about how difficult it has been to score on them.
It's great to see bottom dwellers put up fights and play fun games. The Oilers should take note: you don't have to play EVERY game terribly to still be at the bottom of the league.
We certainly didn't get the bounces, and a few guys definitely didn't have their best nights.
But we are a rebuilding team, no one expected us to be upset about a loss at this point in the schedule. We are also injecting a few rusty guys. Colborne had a good night, IMO. Nevertheless, there are still some comfort zones that have been invaded these past couple days. Playing hot teams (Leafs are also winning, if you haven't noticed) isn't going to make adjusting to a new lineup any easier.
So in short: Let's keep the bi-polar 'everything sucks!' to a minimum. The fact that I'm disappointed in a 3 game losing streak for the first time and it's December has me pretty damn happy.
