Bit of an unfortunate result.. The effort was there and the game was definitely winnable. Hopefully LA, Vancouver and SJS lose tonight as well, would soften the blow.

Good to know it takes a hot goaltender to beat us. Niemi and Bernier both activate God mode. If it wasn't for that we'd have just won 6 in a row.

Flames played well enough, bad 2nd but great 3rd, solid 1st

Good 1st and 3rd, but awful, awful 2nd. Not capitalizing on our chances in the first bit us. Flames need to upgrade that bottom pairing.

Gotta bounce back against the Sabres.

Score flatters the leafs
we need to get our corsi down, it's been killing us lately
I'm still thinkin Ian White for our third D-line
Gaudreau and Jooris are amazing
Monahan didn't quite show up tonight
Gio was solid
2nd period was horribad
Bernier was top-notch, sometimes goalies just have games like that.
etc

Hopefully we can pull through in at least Chicago or Pittsburgh and a big W against buffalo.

Well, Buffalo is basically a must win in order to ensure this roadtrip isn't disastrous.

Back-to-back in Pittsburgh and then in Chicago on Sunday? Need a big response on Thursday for sure.

A terrible 2nd period was the difference.

their goalie kept them ahead...Flames need to play the entire game with that effort

It's neat they can play well in the 3rd and win some after being behind after 40 minutes, but it would be a little nicer to be tied or have the lead instead.

They had a good 1st period, terrible 2nd, and great 3rd.

Some people who never saw the game will just look at the score and think the Leafs were easily the better team, but they weren't at all. I don't see them or the Habs making the playoffs.

Am I the only one who thinks Hartley sucks at taking timeouts? He should have taken one in the second period to wake this team up. There are many instances when a team scores a goal and is buzzing to score another and in my opinion he should call a timeout and settle his team down.

Another huge push by the Flames to stay in it, despite the awful 2nd period. Flames dominated periods 1 and 3 by a country mile. They just don't seem to have a lot of finish lately. Bernier stood on his head, but the Flames need to start burying their chances, as it's coming back to bite us lately. Sucks to lose one like this, especially since it's our first 2 game losing streak of the year. Need to bounce back against the Sabres and get back in the win column.
