Preds make a couple of moves, like Jagr
The Nashville Predators hooked up on a pair of deals with the Flyers that might as well be one big deal. Not satisfied with the teams performance the Predators traded away Jaromir Jagr and Eric Staal and in return added Artem Anisimov, Jussi Rynnas, Patrik Elias, Tom Wilson and Kevin Hayes.
The move was a signal that the Preds are getting younger and moving to continue the rebuild. "Its a good thing he kept his first" said one GM who didn't want to be named. "I mean really, the plan is supposed to be to get better each year, but apparently the Preds don't realise that!" Last year Nashville was close to the playoffs, missing the post-season in the final week. They were supposed to be better this year.
Instead the Preds sit at .500, four points back from the final playoff position. They have better goaltending, a better offence and solid defence...on paper. It hasn't translated into any success on the ice though, and the GM finally stepped in and made some changes. Rumour is other players could be on their way out of town including Martin St. Louis, Mike Ribeiro, Michael Ryder, Sergei Gonchar, Mark Streit, Dan Hamhuis and the list goes on. Some even think that Patrik Elias could have a quick stop in Nashville before heading to greener pastures.
