Default SE dayhomes

The wife and I are looking for potential dayhomes for our 1 yr daughter.

Are there any websites that are good for finding some? The websites that I have found so far seem to be a little outdated (some listed dayhomes are listing availability for 2012 still).

What are some good questions or concerns to bring up when interviewing a dayhome?

any help would be greatly appreciated

My son goes to a dayhome in McKenzie Towne. We've had both our sons go there for the past 4 years. It's been great.

When would your daughter need a spot? I can check to see if she has spots available.

We used one lady for before and after school care last year for both our kids in McKenzie Towne. I will see if she has an opening.

My wife ran a dayhome for years, and off the top of my head, here are a couple things I'd ask:

- What kind of snacks/meals does she provide? (My wife made everything from scratch, had a balanced meal plan)
- Try to get a gauge on how much outside play time they get, if you think that's important. My wife used to have them outside a lot and parents loved it...except for the one couple that had a talk with her saying "my son is more of a home body and just likes to watch TV", but that's a different story...SMH

You can ask for references from other parents too. However, be careful not to have too many questions, or be overbearing, as the dayhome parents can be very picky as well. They're interviewing you just as much as you are them. Dayhome Moms get constant calls.

Hope that helps.

When we were looking for a day home my wife loved this place and the vibe given off by the lady who ran it:

Unfortunately no room at the time so we went elsewhere and were satisfied.

OT a bit, but if you find the right dayhome, it can be a longtime bond.

My daughter still remembers and talks about her day home when she was 3/4. My wife recently got in touch with the lady that ran it, and we are going to get my daughter and her together again (daughter is now 11).

Pretty damn cool, so good luck.

Unfortunately, she has no spaces available in January and doesn't know for sure if she will until July when my son leaves.

She has some friends in the neighbourhood who also run day homes. Will your daughter need full-time care? Is she just turning 1 or closer to 2? What time would you need to drop off and pick up? Shoot me a PM with the details and your number if you don't feel comfortable posting them here and I'll send them over to her so she can pass them on to the other day home ladies.

I hate to piggy back on another thread, but the wife runs a dayhome out of our house in Sundance and has a few spots open to start in January.

If anybody is interested, shoot me a PM and we can hook up a meeting with the wife so you can come and see the house, get details, etc.
