I'm clearly out of touch, but I kind of forgot Brewer was still in the league, never mind worth a 3rd.

Tampa essentially gets a 2nd rounder
Erik Erlendsson @erlendssonTBO
The 3rd round pick acquired from Anaheim originally belonged to Edmonton, so figures to be an early pick in the third

yup
Erik Erlendsson @erlendssonTBO
A roster move was going to be required when Hedman is activated, this clears a spot for Hedman to now be activated, team now has 14F, 7D

McKenzie reported that Yzerman was trying to move Brewer at the start of the season.

Defensemen are obviously worth a premium right now. Approx. 61st overall in a deep draft for Brewer.

Tampa is pretty deep at defense. It only seemed like a matter of time until they offloaded one.
I would not be surprised if that 3rd comes into play at the trade deadline again.

Agreed, Sustr (6'8" 225 lbs) has forced himself onto the team full time and hasn't looked bad on the 2nd pairing with Garrison. He and Gudas will be monsters on that 3rd unit. Barberio is the perfect 7th man as he can slide in and add offense and play solid enough defense.
Tampa is build for speed, and Brewer stuck out like a sore thumb in that regard. Just way too slow for the type of game they play. Brewer will probably fit in better in the gritty, hard forechecking style that Anaheim plays.
Tampa
Stralman-Hedman
Garrison-Carle
Sustr-Gudas
Barberio
Anaheim (when healthy, currently missing Beauchemin, Stoner, and Fistric long term)
Vatanen-Beauchemin
Fowler-Stoner
Brewer-Lindholm
Fistric
Those are two very solidly built d-groups.

Tampa retains salary on Brewer, might be why the return is a little higher than most expected.
Pierre LeBrun @Real_ESPNLeBrun
FYI that the Lightning retained 26 percent of Brewer's salary/cap hit in the trade
