[Rumour] Flyers (were) close to trading Lecavalier + 2nd round pick to Oilers for Eberle

So my buddy who is a huge Flyers fan went on the Flyers homepage yesterday where the team announced a trade between the Oilers and Flyers.

It was Vinny Lecavalier + 2nd round pick for Jordan Eberle. The team removed the story just minutes after. So not sure if it was a close deal & someone was jumping the gun or just a hacker.

I beleive Vinny has a NTC or NMC so he may have nixed the deal anyway.

Anyone hear of this?

That's a terrible deal for the Oilers. Shame it didn't happen.

That would signify they full out tank. Even though Lecavalier is a big centerman he is well past his expiry date in terms of being a top 6 forward. He would do nothing to help the Oilers. In this case the Oilers are more suited to keep Eberle. They only seem to be able to keep 1st round draft picks on their roster, and only because their talent keeps them in the NHL. The 2nd round draft pick would be a waste. This completely signifies "Yes, yes we are tanking".

Sounds like bunk. If it had actually happened it would have been reported. Add it to the rumor thread. Not worth it's own thread without more proof.
