He should be inducted as a Builder to the Hockey Hall of Fame - he has contributed that much to the game.

He was universally reviled by his players, and not just because he was a harda%%. He also stole a medal from one of his players after an Olympic win because coaches didn't receive medals.

Yea, he took Khabibulin's medal in 1992 because he felt that a 3rd goalie didn't need one. That didn't go over well with most of that team. I think that is where he lost everyone that hadn't completely turned on him already.

He punched Mogilny once too on the bench in 1988.

Have to imagine the pressure he was under to win, especially under the communist regime was pretty intense. Pretty much a win or go missing situation for some of those games.

I remember HATING/DESPISING that guy and everything to do with his teams. From the way he stood in front of the players on the bench to his hardarse tactics.
He was good for hockey though and caused Canadian hockey to look inward and change or be left in the dust.
