Agree that a move must be coming.
Other than Setoguchi to Adirondack, that is...

On behalf of Adirondack, we decline that offer.

Setoguchi would look good in Adirondack, so would McGrattan.

I too agree with a deal happening, but I'm not sure who you deal.
-Glencross will get max value later on likely
-Jones and Setoguchi aren't likely to have a market (for different reasons)
-Stajan? Not likely as he's a dressing room leader
-Raymond? He was our leading scorer before getting hurt
-Bollig? Not after Treliving just acquired him (no matter how much that might please me)
-Hudler? That would be stupid, and you won't get the return to match what he's worth to the team.
There's really nothing else. It's gonna have to either be an assignment to the minors (McGrattan or Seto. I don't think Treliving sends McGrattan down)
As for the kids, who can you send down then when players return from the IR? I unfortunately think it's Ferland. Not fair, but everyone else has sat down on this game of musical chairs and he's still standing through no fault of his own. If not Ferland then Baertschi or Granlund I guess, though they both have legitimate reasons for staying. I just don't know

I would be hesitant to send Sven down when healthy bodies get back simply because you can see he's heating up and id like to see if he can get some confidence back and get going.

Speaking of Jooris, this guy has to stick doesn’t he? He and Granlund are simply too established to go back now.
Yup fully agreed.

I agree, but Granlund has shown he belongs, sending Jooris down is almost a slap in the gave after what he's done, Ferland hasn't had a chance, etc, etc

...which leaves Backlund. We can sell him as our #1 centre and hopefully get a d-man in return.

You can't trade KHL players for NHL players
Having said that, he's about the only one toy could really trade right now (at least when he's healthy)

He had a a real good game, but it's just one at this point, so I don't think we can say he's on a heating up trend. But the injured aren't coming back for a few games - he will have several more to see if it was just one good game or the start of an improvement.
Even if one more guy - say a Ferland a comes back, I think Gratts and Bollig sit and Ferland plays. IIRC we probably have roster space. If not, Seto can be waived.

I'm sure they are compiling a list of both who has made the case to stay, and who doesn't fit into their plans for next year and onward. Clearly guys with expiring have to be considered as well.
The odd thing for the Flames is I doubt they saw themselves in a playoff spot at the same time as 5 forwards are out of their lineup. The kids coming up and staying would likely come on the heels of injuries and a plummet down the standings. So now they have to weigh the standing of the team with any moves they make as unloading in a playoff spot would have bad optics.
Further again however is the issue of whether the veterans are helping them stay in said playoff spot more than the rookies that have replaced them while injured.
Heady times!

Re: Seto, he may have had a diminishing role but he certainly was getting a lot of PP time. With 0pts to show for it.

I am confident that whoever is moved/traded, it is the best for our team. Treliving has been doing a fantastic job with this organization as GM. He'll know what's best for us. Many of our prospects are looking almost NHL to NHL ready, giving management some hard decisions.

Treliving has some very tough decisions to make. So early into the season our forward depth has been on display and the prospects are playing consistently well. The 'trouble' is that the vets are also playing well except for Gooch, and yes he has officially earned that nickname.
There's been very few trades as is typical this early, but hopefully there's a team we can make a quantity for quality type deal with (I know I'm dreaming).

I'm not so confident yet. He didn't draft any of those guys. Some of his roster moves so far are my two least favourite ones: Engelland and Bollig. Raymond was good, but I can't think of much else that I like so far off the top of my head

How about Brodie's preseason extension?
Bennett?
Hiller?
