That's pretty mild.

Also, from the Avs boards it seems like the love affair with Roy that is on the rocks. And I'm not an Iggy apologist.

Iginla was covering his man at the point, not sure why he was singled out, but not Iginlas fault IMO.

the whole team looks like a whole bunch of pylons there..... ya I'm not so sure this is a Stanley Cup favorite team.

Serious question... do you have some kind of RSS feed or algorithm that sends you an alert when Jay Feaster or Iginla + Avs are mentioned?

I agree. He's a winger. He covers the point like he should.

Here's Roy's quote

Quote:
“On that third goal, we were just lost,” Roy said. “Jarome lost his position, lost his D. And it was an easy walk-in for Fowler.”
That's hardly a call out and is simply making a big deal out of nothing. The writer's reasoning behind the article as he puts it "Iginla’s name was the only one mentioned by Roy in describing Fowler’s game-winner."

Just watched the video…wow, what was Iggy doing on that play? It looked like one of those 'controller disconnected' moments, and Fowler just blows right past him. But the Avs as a group were stinky, so I'm not sure why Roy felt the need to call him out specifically.

To be honest, the more I see Iginla play these days, the less I miss him. Regardless of who's fault that specific goal was, overall his defensive game tends to be really lazy.

Well Iggy is 37, and not the player he was a decade ago. Time waits for no man, and he is obviously at the twilight of his career.

The writer is trying to stir things up, making something out of nothing. Roy just described the play, he wasn't "calling anyone out".

That looks like a couple of players not knowing what to do. Anaheim's loaded up the strong side there, so when the puck carrier (#7) makes the pass, either Iginla or Guerin should rotate onto Fowler.

But Iginla's assignment is to watch the point, and there are two Ducks sitting up on the part of the blueline that he's responsible for covering.

I imagine that the Av's defensive coverage scheme normally calls for him to rotate onto Fowler, letting Guerin stay in front of the net, but all 5 Ducks are on the strong side of the ice, there is no weak-side player for Guerin to prevent a pass to.

Seriously blown D right there.

The Avs D is pretty shocking IMO. In comparison to all their talent and firepower up front, their blueline looks shambolic.

Jan Hejda - Erik Johnson
Brad Stuart - Nick Holden
Nate Guenin - Tyson Barrie

not a lot of quality there. Just a very unbalanced roster and it's surprising that a former goalie like Roy, who should know the importance of good defense, let it come to this. Maybe they should try and flip one of their great forwards for a defenseman.

That's not what I would call singling him out. He's just commenting on a goal against where his team was out of position to defend. Besides since Roy has a hand in personnel he should have known well that Iginla hasn't played a 2-way game in almost a decade and to expect him to start now is foolish. IMO that contract was pretty ridiculous anyway. The guy is 37 and his game could literally drop off a cliff at any moment and they hand him a 3 year $16 million deal. I don't see the last few years of this deal going very well.

Bang on. I am glad a coach finally called Iginla out for being an extremely bad defensive player. Surprised he wasn't waiting at the opposing teams blue line looking for a breakaway pass.

Holy hyperbole. And he called him out for one play.
