Thanks for showing up, Buffalo
I was perusing the NHL standings this morning and noticed something very peculiar; the Sabres goal differential of -28 is insanely bad. I mean... really bad. The next worst are Carolina and Arizona at -15. The best is Pittsburgh at +19.
How freaking brutal must it be to cheer for the Sabres right now? I'm glad the draft lottery is changing the rules because teams shouldn't be awarded for putting out a product this inferior. What a freaking joke.

What they did earlier in the year bringing the Erie Otters to play a league game in Buffalo was shameful. I think that rewarding losers with the best players is a joke to begin with but when they openly celebrate it this early in the year... Pathetic.

It won't matter because the lottery will be rigged anyways. Some team in financial trouble will win ala Pittsburgh in the Crosby draft.

I did love the description on TSN when the Sabres played the Pens.
So its the Pittsburgh Penguins against some Thursday night beer league team.

what about a simple rule change where last place team picks 3rd no matter what. Not going to happen and could still be gamed. But Buffalo would have to fess up and get a proper goalie.
Lottery is prob best, but problem for me is no one needs to see LA or Boston win the lottery for McDavid.

I have always hated that franchise. A lot of people out west don't see it, but when the Sabres are good, their fan base is unbearable (and they have quite a representation in Southern Ontario). When they are bad, they are shameless tankers.
They are like the perfect combination of the Oilers and Canucks.

The tank job is so blatant they might as well have Pegula go out to center ice and announce a forfeit before the games even start. Its shameful and a slap in the face of honest competition.

I followed the Sabres closely when Vanek made the NHL and I really liked the team back then. Briere, Drury, Vanek, Roy, Afinogenov, Pominville ... that was a sick top 6. I was really pissed when they lost against Ottawa in the conference finals. It's a shame that they've went from that to handing out ridiculous contracts when Pegula took over and now to blatant tanking. It's a shame that they'll surely walk away with McDavid or Eichel.

I'd still rather see Mcdavid in a real hockey city than in Carolina.

It was an experiment in small fast fwds after the lockout that didn't really work.

190 goals between those six guys in 2006-07, followed by a deep playoff run. I'd argue it worked pretty well. The problem was that they lost both Briere and Drury through free agency that summer and they were never able to replace them.

They have been shutout 5 times in their last 8 games.
They have scored more than 2 goals in a game once all year (against Carolina)
The juggernaut Flames offense has scored 18 more goals.

Fair enough, but they finished out of the POs. Two guys like that shouldn't cause that big of a downfall.

On the bright side... they allow less goals per game than Edmonton. So kudos to them for that.
