Great write up.
One thing that has to change....the Flames lead the the NHL in times shorthanded and minor penalties.

(I think Gaudreau tipped it)
Yeah, that's what I thought too and was kind of surprised no one on the broadcast mentioned it. I just watched it in slow motion and it looked like he deflected it although the camera was directly behind Johnny so I can't be positive. As you say he reacted like he scored it. From the SN replay from another angle, it's more blurry but a stick comes down and redirects it and it looks like Johnny's stick.

From one of the angles SN showed it looked like the deflection happened off the Blackhawk defenseman.

It definitely went off a blackhawk stick, but prior to that it may have gone of Johnnys stick.

Ya, looking at the replay frame by frame the puck and Gaudreau's stick are overlapping as it passes Gaudreau, so either it did hit his stick or his stick was directly over the puck, really close either way.

Definitely Trevor Van Reimsdyk's stick shaft...

I got home from work and watched the DVR...I had been following your game thread from work.

Yes, Hiller was good, but I was more impressed with your TEAM D. A lot of shot blocks, nearly 30, I think, and even more impressive, was the ability of your guys to tie up 'Hawk sticks. It seemed, to me, that Hiller spit out a LOT of rebounds, but, the 'Hawks failed to get a lot of 2nd chances.

Hiller seemed calm and big, and positionally sound, a lot of 'Hawk shots hit him, whether he saw them or not.

For my guys, Carbomb chunked THREE different chances at a weak side post goal! Also, the 'Hawks were guilty of being too "cute", overpassing down low to get a "perfect" goal.

Crawford was solid...but, Calgary definitely earned the points.

There was a lot of complaining on the game thread on the officiating...I didn't think that ANY of the calls were "phantom" calls...the new rule on diving D-Men is clear...the clearly BLOWN calls were late...and I do HATE that refs put the whistle in their pockets in the 3rd. Kane clearly was guilty of hooking, and some of the subtle picks certainly need to be called. In the end, the 'Hawks overpassed in all their PP chances.

On the Shaw goal...the stick seemed to start over the bar...but, I couldn't tell where his stick was, in relation to the crossbar, when he actually touched the puck, as the motion of the stick was downward as the puck was on the way...tough call that I've seen called both ways, over the years. Staying with the call on the ice, was typical, and I can't say was either wrong or right.

You guys and gals should be proud of your guys for battling through a flat start, and being efficient with your offensive opportunities.

And someone needs to get Byron some snakebite treatment...so close on a couple breakaways!

We will catch you next time our teams meet...

^ agreed, definitely Van Riemsdyk. Hope that Crawford giving him the stink eye and a bit of lip is not a beginning of an ongoing thing.

Calgary while outplayed in 1 and most of 2 held out for the win. Glad to see.

Hiller was very good. Some challenging shots. Even though he didn't have too many deadly opps, you have to agree that 50 shots can make a guy pretty darn tired.

It's pretty darn great to have a goaltending controversy that has two good options. Remember when dressing Kipper's replacement was a crap shoot at best. With extra crap?

Good writeup. Save of the game was definitely the diving save on Carcillo in the 1st. That goes in and it's likely a different game.

Thought about it, but his fan job made it a non save in the end.

Widows8 auto correct again.

Can't tell you how many times it corrected Blackhawks to Blackhawk, or Colborne to Colburne

You have to be vigilant!

Oh and I was never saying that Gaudreau was the only guy to touch the puck, clearly it hit the Hawk defender, but before that it looks like Gaudreau made a slight deflection.

No comments on that crazy Backlund to Brodie breakout?

I made this comment in the GT as well. It does look like he deflected it but with SN and their terrible angles and "HD" cameras it was hard to really tell. He sure celebrated like he had got a piece of it.

It was ALL Backlund and Brodie, Backlund retreieved the puck passed it to Brodie and the rest is history, that was a great sequence. That pass was amazing, the shot was a deadly snipe.

Also, I don't think Johnny got his stick on that Wideman shot for the goal. The slo-mo isn't as good as last year and you never got to slow it enough around Johnny's position to actually see if he dd touch it.
