Oh man, reading the Oilers HFboards after last night was just so satisfying.

Good article, Bingo! One thought I have on Gaudreau is that he needs to receive the pass when he's got some speed (or when he has some distance from other players). Whenever a pass got to him last night he was standing still, and often in a scrum. Someone (I think from the L.A. Kings) said the way to contain Patrick Kane was to get in his way before he gets 2 or 3 strides and that he's easy to overpower if he's not moving quickly.

Who would have thought Colborne would turn out to be a 160+ point a season player and Raymond a 120+ goals a season player.

Guys are going to have to give me a break on player's names until I spot and dictionary all of them. Windows 8 autocorrect everything and it's impossible to keep track of it all

As a writer it's frustrating when you think hard to find concepts and discussion ideas only to see your mistakes discussed.

Or that Reto Berra would have a perfect record and 1.0000 save percentage? And we traded him for a 2nd?

Thanks Bingo. Your game write-ups are always much appreciated.

I don't want to be too much of a downer, but this was a game where everything went right (i.e. luck). They buried their chances when they had to and had solid goaltending. I don't think they were necessarily dominant though (as you also alluded to). The Oilers blew it on their own merit.

It's always nice to beat the Oilers though. In a way, seeing them implode is just as nice.

Does it matter? I am sure the writers will run a grammar and spelling check and probably a second read over, but why is everyone on the internet so obsessed with spelling or grammar mistakes. I understood what was meant by Wiseman, I didn't get the Ramo point in the opening paragraph but neither of these took away from the meat of the story.

I don't give likes to things without a good reason, but I appreciate every writer that does these game takes. They watch the game, have to remember key points, maybe even take notes, find interesting topics and get piled on for a mistake that is easy to just read past. I wouldn't throw a 100 dollar bill away because it was creased and I won't criticize these guys who volunteer their time unless it's something that makes the story confusing.

I'm sure you meant it as an honest question but it just kind of set me off after Bingo even addressed it.

Sorry for the rant but I for one don't want to lose these hard working writers because of something as mundane as the odd spelling mistake. Kudos to Bingo and all the writers who take their time to do these for us!

Oh and as for the story, great write up! I did think Engelland was noticeable on both Oilers goals but it's hard to judge as it was PK and his play 5-on-5 was good. Gio continued to impress last night too, especially for me in the second. I noticed a few times that the forwards would get all confused and running around but Giordano would sweep in, get control and relieve pressure, he really is becoming an elite defenseman.

I have a lot of faith in Ramo. Hiller looks competent but him being trade bait at the deadline sounds good, especially if Ortio continues to look good.

What can I say about Colborne's game, he looks great at centre and all of a sudden we are strong down the middle with Stajan demoted to the 4th line. It isn't because Stajan has looked bad or is in the coach's bad books like with Brent, he just isn't as good as the other options.

Of course it matters, you're posting a written article on a website for people to read. It's not just grammar and the odd spelling mistake -- there's entire sentences that are disjointed or don't make sense and one that is even half-missing entirely.

It doesn't have to be scholar level work but when you obviously didn't even read through it once before it went up I think it can be pointed out.

With the Oilers alumni in town, offseason hype, and giddy RSN Oilers broadcast team a win last night would have been maybe their biggest celebration since the last cup win. So happy it was the Flames that got to spoil their evening.

It was a win, so don't criticize a win too hard, but Flames were outplayed most of the game and Ramo did great. I noticed Bollig I think it was in the defensive zone giving the D man on his side a lot of room, not sure if that's due to him not being fast enough to get out there or just positioning, but it freed up that side a lot.

You've got that right. He's able to control team panic very effectively.

How old will the '84 Oilers alumni be when they next come to town in 2044?
