I love the half hour delay between the first two games so I can watch during intermissions.

Watching the Sportsnet coverage down here. At the very least, it's markedly better than any American coverage I'll ever watch. Seems like they're trying some new things for the broadcast…a little sloppy so far, but I'm sure they'll work out the kinks.

So far so good for Sportsnet, Kypreos is as loud and as awful as ever though.

I just have to say it, Phaneuf seems like he's matured a lot over the years. I'm not anything close to a Leafs fan, but I kinda want to see him have a really good season again.

Love this set up so far. The red chair idea being brought over from George's show and the one on one is great. They put George right in his comfort zone and I think it'll pay off.

I was interested to see how he'd host. I was worried they'd try to make everything big and rushed like you see on major American sports broadcasts, and have George jumping all over the place and doing quick interviews. Not sure why I thought that, but I like what we're seeing so far.

That sky cam looks unreal, too. This is actually exciting. I figured the changes would all be gimmicky and we'd get the same old Sportsnet, but me likely so far.

Gord Downie should host Hockey Night in Canada.

I haven't seen the Hip play in forever, but what the hell happened to Gord Downie's voice? He was never the greatest singer, but this is awful.

Of course the Hip sound awful, very considerate of Sportsnet to give everyone a preview of the next 12 years: Mostly awful.

Hockey is so good, not even Sportsnet and zombie Gord Downie can ruin it!

I also can't wait for the NHL debut of Johnny Gaudreau, Mr. Darren Millard ... when I jump in my time machine and go back to April.

I should add: there is nothing more awesome then watching a terrible band, with a 50 year old lead dancing like a nancy with his gut hanging out.

To be clear, I'm a huge Hip fan, but this is a shell of the man I grew up worshipping. If I sounded like that I would stop playing live, or do like Joni Mitchell and sing my songs a full octave lower.

Gord is what Jay Onrait would be if he did more drugs and watched more Leafs games as a kid.
