McKenzie: Bennett expected to have shoulder surgery. Could be out for months

CGY expected to clarify today but sounds as tho shoulder surgery is more likely than not for Sam Bennett. If so, he'll be out months.

Not doing surgery on Bennett is apparently a possibility, as in rest and rehab, but long-term best interests for recovery may be surgery.

In any case, Bennett not likely to be playing for awhile and he won't be a consideration for Canada's national junior team.

Bennett suffered a shoulder injury in CGY's pre-season but he also battled through shoulder issues much of last season in KGN.

Definitely thought he would be sent down, even without the injury, but this really sucks. Really wanted him to rip it up in the OHL and lead the WJC team.

I hope he has the surgery, takes his time recovering and spends the rest of the season dominating the OHL.
Next year he will be on this team.

Gotta do what's best for the long term. He's pretty much going to lose a year of development though, which is tough.
