Always Given, Never Earned!

Management and coaching staff just finished dumping a load of BS on fans. BS they stuck with all preseason. Yet in the end it was all BS!
Fans were hoping for a breath of fresh air. In the sense if you are on the team you earned your role!
Sure some fans may say well Hudler didnt have a great camp? Should we replace him?.... Obviously not, he has played on this team before and we know what we will get from him. Guys argue about Sven and Monahan in the preseason, I am not advocating to demote Monahan, sure he scored some goals, he is responsible for some goals against too, his passing was horrible in the preseason. Yet come on now, we all know who the suspect vets are......... Jones and Setoguchi! Even Raymond if you really want to get in to it!
I could easily argue that ten prospects played better than either of them. Those who say they are proven NHLERS? When was the last time they proved they belong in the league? Always earned............... it hasnt been. It has been given! BS!
They rolled out with the media rhetoric, and now I am calling them on this. Who deserves to be on the team based off of performance? Jooris? Sven ? Ferland? you could add others too, but guys like bennett need more time to develop, just too young. Has the skill to play forsure, we would hurt his development if he gets anymore than 9 games. Yet he outplayed the vets too. I love that kid! Earned a roster spot, but I want to protect this asset!
Guys I am calling a spade a spade. Management just did what I hoped they would not do! Wrong message sent to all prospects. Can they redeem themselves? Absolutely. Guys that stayed up perform well ( makes them look great ), trades, or waivers.
Message could of been sent to some vets today. As a fan I do not know.
I fully support the shooting of any coach or manager in the next few days who uses the term " Always earned, never given"!
Sad thing though is I expected this to happen many months ago. What makes it worse? Next year! You think this year drove fans nuts, wait till next training camp! Add an Eichel McDavid or Hannifan to the mix.
Gaudreau being the only rookie to make a 27th placed team? He has all world skills, we can not ask a prospect to be like him ever. Yet he barely makes the team? Yet no official release yet if he has made the team?
Dont get me wrong, I am not so pissed because one certain prospect didnt make the team, Sven Ferland Granlund Bennett Jooris pick.
Always given, never earned!
Before next year comes to pass we better clear some space for the rookies, otherwise fans are gonna be asking to clear the coaches and management.
