Not really needed considering our prospect depth at LW, but Klingberg is otherwise intriguing.

All I've read on Mueller at Blues camp has been good. I don't think they had the room for him with Schwartz re signing. He'd be a great pick up. Just my thoughts though. He's the kind of player I feel would mesh very well with a player like Monahan.

How many times has Mueller passed through this process? It seems like he's on waivers every year. A couple years ago I was in favour of giving him a shot. Doesn't seem to make sense now.

Blacker and Clark wouldn't be bad adds either

Mueller might have been a nice option if the Flames hadn't signed Setoguchi. No point right now.

If you want a laugh check out the fight he had against Tanner Glass this preseason with the Rangers announcers going off about how's he's useless and Glass shouldn't waste his time fighting a guy who won't play in the NHL again.
Good times.

It's strange to be in a position to say it, but our forward depth is excellent right now. Don't need any of these re-treads. Unless it's an outstanding prospect I think Treliving will steer clear.

Jeremy Rutherford @jprutherford
Re Mueller, he's had a decent camp but he's on a 2-way. Waivers were likely. With Blues' depth he would've needed to play lights-out to stay

Please no to any pick-ups. Calgary needs to play at least one of it's rookies this year.

I'd like the Flames to grab another defenseman if Blacker is worth taking.

I'd be all for picking up Mueller and waiving Setoguchi, then assigning him to the ECHL after he clears waivers.
Haven't followed Mueller, but if he showed something at camp, it's more than can be said for Setoguchi.

Good point. Seto really looked worse than quite a few of the Flames' kids.

Well, relative to what is on the waiver wire, our forward depth is excellent. Long way to go yet - both in terms of development of the young kids and acquisition of greater talent.

You can't assign a player not on an ELC to the ECHL without their permission.
And if Mueller really was that good, he wouldn't be on waivers. They'd make space. Ultimately, you're just trading one unknown for another with this suggestion.
