Default Pre purchase parking at the Dome

So I went to the Hitmen games last night and as I paid the always over blown 15 dollars to park for a WHL game I was given a card by the Stampede parking attendent.

The card reads that you can now pre purchase parking for the entire NHL season for $820 dollars (preseason free with purchase).

So that works out to 41regular season games for $820 or $20/Game. Yet right now it is $15 per game or what would be $615 for the season. So either the Stampede board plans to increase parking to $20 per game this year or they think Flames fans are stupid and really bad at math.

Anyone else notice this offering? Am I missing something with this or are they just really getting ballsy with taken advantage of the fans?

Was it just for NHL events or does it include Hitmen/Roughneck games etc?

It says for the Calgary Flames Regular Season Home Games.

There really isnt a lot of detail on the card. If it was for a VIP parking section that included a seperate enterance and exit lane then I would be all over it. But for just pre paid parking it seems like a rip job.

Maybe I'm missing, something but even if prices were to be raised to $20/game, if it isn't cheaper to pre-pay, what's the point?

$20......yikes!!! Not really sure what the ultimate purpose of prepaying would be. Do you get in or out any faster?

I like parking in those private lots on the north side of the dome. I know it is a longer walk, but you are likely sitting in your vehicle for that amount of time anyways.......

I'm a cheap ass and I hunt down free parking on the street. That $15 or $20 is better used for beer at the game

It would only make sense if they block off a section for this pre-paid parking. Something like the reserved parking at LRT stations. Definitely not as good as the VIP parking that has its own entrance or exit, but a secure spot for you to park so you aren't walking clear across the park in the middle of the winter.

If it's not, and it's just simply for the convenience of not having to pay each time you come to the game, then I agree... just ridiculous.

I do agree though... I do prefer the private parking north of the grounds. The key is getting a good exit path after the game.

They're catering to the crowd that brag about getting extra taxes taken off each check so they get a return at the end of the year.

I am with you on this one. My pregame routine consists of Fan 960 on the way to the dome and securing a fast exit point out of the parking lot at games end. I am a big man and I only run for two reasons, if something that can kill me is chasing me or if I am trying to beat the rush back to my parked vehicle after a Flames game.....

I would pay extra to park closer on the North side. Guaranteed parking, no cold walk.

$15 for parking is a joke but it could be a lot worse... It's $50 at TD Gardens in Boston, and most NFL teams charge at least $40. MLB games are the only games I've been to with cheap parking, usually $7-$10.

I wouldn't be shocked if it jumped to $20 on January 1, 2015. It seems to go up every couple of years.

2007 - $10
2009 - $12
2012 - $13
2013 - $15

Makes sense.

The Stampede board is going to gauge people as much as they can now because the Flames aren't going to be on Stampede grounds for much longer

It goes up with transit fare increases, I doubt it would go up to $20 from $15. If/when transit fares go up to $3.50 from $3.00 I'd guess parking will go up to $17/18 - its always a couple bucks more than a 2 person round trip.

Well people are dumb enough to buy it. I haven't had a beer at the dome for 3 years.

Or maybe the Stampede board knows something we don't know about the future location of the Saddledome.

And they drink beer.
