Flight delayed/disrupted as men refused to sit next to women
I've never understood how some religious people are so inconsiderate of others.
"Hundreds of Ultra-Orthodox Jewish men refused to sit next to women on an El Al jet from New York to Israel — and spent the 11-hour flight trying to bribe people to switch seats and loudly praying in the aisles when they refused."

Missed opportunity.
I'd have taken money off the guy not wanting to sit next to the hottest woman on the plane.
Then I would have batted .000 with that woman.
But at least I'd have some money.

It is preferable to sit next to women based on my experience, I was sandwiched between two on my last Dallas trip and they smell great, unlike dudes who tend to smell like a wet dog.

Why wouldn't people switch?? There might be times to make a stand for something, but on an airplane trying to get somewhere surely isn't one of them.

If it was just me sure maybe, but it's a plane full of people, everyone just trying to get somewhere. Or is that a very Canadian attitude (I don't want to move, I don't think I should move, but I'm going to move just so all hundreds of us can get going)?

I think if it was one or two dudes, then yeah, switch just to keep the peace and forget about it. But hundreds of them wanting to switch? So they're pretty much inconveniencing everyone on the plane because they don't want to sit beside women? No.

I don't get it. If they already had to sit next to the women in order to take-off, then hasn't whatever damage it caused these guys already been done? I guess this is different than Muslims where if you have no choice, or it's accidental then its considered okay?

Not surprised by this at all at all. I used to live by a Hacidic neighborhood in Brooklyn, and there was one week or so out of the year that they are apparently not allowed to use electricity...so they would go on the street and look for people to come to their apartment to turn on their lights and appliances for them (you could do it, just not them!).
Not the friendliest of people in my experience...sometimes downright obnoxious actually.
