I go to Logix hair over by the Bass Brothers near MRC. Normal salon type, they use scissors, and it only costs $22 for dudes...
Ask for Karen.

I don't know if I would trust anyone with hair at less than $30 bucks. I don't know, but to me this is one of those things that you pay for what you get sort of things. I go to Hedkandi in Banker's Hall and I've never come out with a complaint. Sure it's a bit on the pricey side but it's worth it.

Totally off topic, but is that suppose to be pronounced as "Head Candy"? Or is that like someone's last name?

haha, I guess that 'Candi' would be pronounced the same as candii or candy...if that makes any sense at all. Here's their website, and if anyone considers going here I would recommend that you ask for Trina, she's definitely one of the best stylists there.

Wow, $71 for a men's haircut? Does it come with happy ending?
I'm glad I shave my head.

My Brother's a hairstylist and is decent, but he's also an f'ing goof so I'm not going to refer you to him.
Good stylists are a pain in the ass to find, so if you do find a good one, treat them very very well.

That's without a tip. I ain't gonna lie, she's a fantastic stylist and quite the looker. You get complimentary wine or beer while you're there too.

I know a lot of guys that go to razors edge in Avenida, and all come away very happy for $20. They can also do the straight edge shave.

Every time I'm in Calgary I get my hair cut by a guy named Luigi who owns a salon in the Calgary Tower Centre. I can't remember the name of it, but he's an Italian guy who's been cutting hair for like 35 years, and always does a fantastic job. I have hard hair to cut, because it's thick and full of weird cowlicks--but he always does a great job for a very reasonable price. I want to say it's under 30 bucks.

Are you talking about the Elveden building on 7th and 7th? I'm in this building and there is an old Italian guy who has a barber shop in here and he has been cutting hair forever, my brother in law goes to see him.

^^^ Noting that you did not deny the "happy ending."
When I was younger, I used to believe that the fancy salons were the way to go. Now that I am older, I have found that a good barber that konws mens hair is often better. That's if you like a man's type haircut. If you want a "So You Think You Can Dance" type haircut then, yah, you gotta go to a salon. The other benefit to a barber is that you can go twice as frequently to keep your cut fresh.

mayland barber in Mayland Heights (NE). 14.50 for a cut. For the metrosexual types I think Mo charges $40 for cut and highlights. Fantastic guy who does a great job. He knows most of his clientelle by name and he is a young guy around 40 not some old dinosaur that offers you Brylcreem after he finishes

Yea. Whenever I'm going through a hair phase (as opposed to shaving it) I go here. They do what you ask them to do. Not like the idiot in the mall further south in Millrise. That guy thinks he's an artist and you're a blank canvas. You tell him what style you want, he nods in acknowledgment, then proceeds to go Beetlejuice on your hair.

That's EXACTLY what happened to me. I wanted a hair cut like this one:
I told her exactly what I wanted, and I even brought in a picture similar to the one above (only much clearer so you could see how long the hair was everywhere), and I ended up with this (only with longer sides):
Honestly. I don't even understand how someone can screw up a haircut that bad. It's not even CLOSE to what I asked for. There's absolutely NOTHING similar between those cuts. NOTHING. The sides are too long and rounded, so it makes my head look like an egg, and the top is too short to slick back (so it just sits straight up) and makes my forehead look huge. It's easily the worst haircut I've ever had. And the worst part is that it's so short that I have to walk around with it for like half a year before it grows out enough to be fixed.
And to top it all off, being the nice guy that I am, I actually tipped her.
