Creepy dudes are creepy. I burst out laughing when the white guy tried to get her into his creepy convertible van.
I also question the legitimacy of these "social experiment" youtube videos. Reminds me of "reality" TV.
Yeah, "social experiment" is a bit of a reach. High-falutin' sounding talk for "we found a bunch of creeps with an attractive woman on Hollywood Boulevard".
But ugh, what a bunch of creeps. "Hey, here's someone I think I can take advantage of, it's my lucky day!".
Hopefully all their friends (if they have any) and family will see this.

Was the guy in the urban sombrero trying to take her home anyway? It looks like he was just trying to show her where the bus stop was. Although I guess it looks more like he was trying to drag he... well somewhere.
What's the right thing to do in this situation? Take away her beer, and hale a cab I suppose would be the easy answer.
Yeah, since its conditional that you get clearance for people to post their images on you tube, I doubt anyone is going to let themselves get portrayed as basically rapists.
I'm betting a bunch of actors.
If not then the creators of the video have opened themselves to law suits.

Hail a cab.
What would have been funny if one of them would have called over a cop because they're concerned about her safety and she gets arrested for public drunkenness.

What you should do in this case would depend on how much (or if at all) you felt like helping. If you feel like helping a little, and know where to find the bus she's asking for, you can point it out. If you feel like helping a bit more, you could take her to the bus stop. You could even wait until she got on.
If you are feeling generous, you could call her a cab. You would likely end up paying for it though, as she didn't appear to be carrying anything other than the "beer" bottle.
If you want to do none of the above, and want to help a little, you could call the police and let them know you are worried for her safety.
If you want to call the police and help more, you could stay with her until police arrive.

What are the real rules for that kind of thing? I honestly don't have a clue. This did take place on a public street though, and I think that might have something to do with it.
I can't imagine all those creeps on "To Catch A Predator" give clearance to have their face shown on TV after they've been caught with a case of beer in the house of what they believe to be a child.
Edit: but yeah, could be a hoax.

To catch a predator involved the police and also occurred in a private residence.
So this happened to me about a month and a half ago on 8th ave.
TLDR: Drunk girl collapsed in tears, homeless dude and I calm her down and I make sure she gets home safe and sound (I did not go up to her place with her).
It was a Friday night at about 10:00 pm and I was standing outside the McDonalds near 3rd enjoying some post drinking grease when this girl (definitely not homeless from the way she was dressed) suddenly collapses in a fit of tears and loud crying about five feet from me. I walked over to her to see what was wrong. A homeless guy in a wheel chair also came over to make sure she was ok.
She was pretty hysterical and I had no idea what was going on (I thought she had had a fight with her boyfriend or other friends, though there were no other people around, or coming up to her). The homeless guy (I eventually learned his name was bad legs Billy, and no, I'm not making that up) was also trying to comfort her. I gave up trying to find out what was wrong and instead tried to get her to a cab. She did want to go home but getting her in a cab proved impossible (I offered to pay in case she didn't have the money for it, but she declined) so instead the three of us (my friend decided he wanted no part of this and had left) started walking up 8th ave towards City Hall, and presumably, where she lived.
We had to stop walking a few times as the police wanted to talk to Billy, as well as some of his homeless friends. Billy told me everyone knew him, and he wasn't wrong. In any case, here we are, a most unusual fellowship of drunk people walking down 8th ave. The girl would stop every ten to fifteen feet to make sure Billy was still doing ok coming along in his wheelchair. Billy clearly didn't trust me alone with this girl and I don't blame him one bit. I was just a random drunk guy afterall and Billy probably knows better than many what can happen on the streets. Eventually he did decide to leave us and the girl and I started walking to her place, or so I thought.
We get to McLeod and I start asking again if she wants a cab. She declines and says she doesn't live far. That's cool so I ask her where she lives and when she finally tells me I start laughing. We've been walking the wrong way the whole time. So we turn around and start walking towards her place. We walk and talk and eventually get to her place. She told me she wasn't going to invite me up to her place and I laughed and said that was absolutely fine, I had zero interest in going up with her. So she gave me a hug, said goodbye and went into her building.
It was all pretty strange to be honest. I just wanted to make sure she got home safe because I know there are a lot of creepy people out there...
^^^^^^^^^^
Aren't you a saint. I probably wouldn't have walked her ten feet if i didn't think i had a chance of getting invited up, i guess i should have been in that social experiment video.
Are the producers of this video suggesting that the men featured represent 100% of the responses they saw? Highly unlikely. The video was likely filmed over the course of many hours and probably saw a wide variety of responses from men and women. Picking out these specific 3 or 4 responses doesn't exactly provide any type of meaningful social commentary. Of course they would see some men respond like this, but I wouldn't be surprised if they could have just as easily edited together a video of men and women genuinely trying to get this girl safely to her bus. Either way, Im guessing a good number of men and women just did the expected thing and ignored her.

I'm not wasting 4 minutes of my life on that tripe.
If someone who is drunk stops me on the street I'm walking away. What are people supposed to do, take her home? I dont care who they are, they're not my problem unless I got drunk with them.
