Rematch : Battle of Alberta (Part 3)
The Rematch: Stampeders beat Edmonton Eskimos a couple of times already this season and the third edition will be played in Edmonton on Saturday, September 6th. Calgary won 10 in a row against the Eskies in regular season games.
Head Coach John Hufnagel tied Wally Buono for most wins by a Calgary coach versus Edmonton with 17. Hufnagel is 17-5 versus Edmonton while Buono was 17-23.
I am sure Eskies defense will be focuing their mind in stopping RB Cornish ran over them the same way they got embarrassed on Labour Day game. The rematch game is usually a tighter game than the Labour Day game.
OFFENSE :
It seems like every game Stampeders are playing a different group of Offensive Linemen, but whoever plays doesn't seem to miss a beat. Case in point when OG Dan Federkeil left due to neck injury, rookie Pierre Lavertu played in his position and he did well. With Federkeil out for the game vs Eskimos, watch for Veteran Edwin Harrison to take his starting spot as OG. Harrison has been a victim of ratio problem that is why he's been a healthy scratch a lot this season. OLine need to repeat their strong play tomorrow night.
QB Bo Levi Mitchell spread the ball around on Zlabour Day game. He completed 252 yards total and spread it around to 9 different receivers. BLM also rushed for 24 yards and 1 TD pass.
In his second game after coming back from concussion injury, RB Jon Cornish torched the Eskimos and rushed for 163 yards and 1 TD that earned him a double weekly CFL award (Offensive Player of the Week and Canadian Player of the Week). WR Maurice Price in his first game back from injury was 4 for 53 yards while his partner WR Joe West only caught one pass for 18 yards. Tomorrow night, we won't have the MoJo combination as West won't be playing to attend his brother's funeral. SB Nik Lewis caught 4 passes for 42 yards but he contributed more with his blocking. SB Marquay McDaniel also caught 4 passes for 53 yards had 300 career catch and also surpassed 4,000 career receiving yards.
DEFENSE :
What about our defense? They just proved to the TSN panel who's got the best defense in the CFL. The defense led by DE Shawn Lemon played spectacular defense all night not giving up an offensive TD 2 games in a row and only gave up 2 FGs. Lemon had 4 tackles, 1 QB sack and 1 forced fumble and he was flying all game. LB Deron Mayo also played well and had 4 tacles and 1 QB. DE Charleston Hughes had the other QB sack. DB Josh Bell and DB Jamar Wall led the team with 5 tackles each.
SPECIAL TEAM :
Coverage team was great all game stopping Eskies returner for a short yardage return. They are one of the reason why the Eskimos had to play deep in their territory most of the game.
DEPTH CHART :
According to Stampeders' tweet regarding their depth chart, FB Rob Cote, LB Yannick Carter, WR/Ret Sederrick Cunningham, DT Freddie Bishop III and OG Edwin Harrison are going back to the lineup replacing LB Alvin Bowen, FB Charlie Power, injured OG Dan Federkeil and WR Joe West.

Game Time : Saturday, September 6 at 5pm Commonwealth Stadium

Eskies uniforms are even more bland seeing them in action.
I think we are in tough today. Hopefully our defence can continue to dominate and shut Stamps down in his first game back.
Hope we can shut the Edmonton fans up one more time!

I just don't get it. 3rd down and 3 and they went for it. Chris Jones might be a defensive guru but he is an idiot when it comes to offensive play. Turnover on down.

Keep it simple Bo. Don't have to go down field 40 yards every throw.

bleh... two defensive masterminds duking it out so far.
I can't imagine both offenses being held in check all game, though. It feels like this one will break wide open before too long.

Nichols without Bowman to throw to will be lost. Need to stop that man.
Wall came close in picking an INT.

Crap!! As soon as the PBP guy says defense hasn't given up an offensive TD, Eskies scored a TD.
