Did the preds really need the upgrade on D? I assumed they could use forward help a little more to help Forsberg out.

damn. I was hoping to watch Oli in the playoffs. Nuts. He did deserve better.

However, if he was going to be traded he's going to the biggest hockey market in the world. If he puts together a strong 25 games it's probably worth another year's contract for him from somewhere in the league. Plus he's a character guy and might be a good influence in that room.

If they are going to trade Bozak I could see Olli as a filler center for the next 2 years for Toronto. Poor guy is never going back to the playoffs.

I'd expect the Leafs to flip Joker at the deadline; why hold on to a pending UFA

It sounds like they moved out Jokinen primarily because of budget issues:

Quote:
The Maple Leafs receive a first-round pick, plus prospect Brendan Leipsic and veteran center Olli Jokinen. Shedding Jokinen's $2.5 million contract helps the Predators fit Franson ($3.3 million) and Santorelli ($1.5 million) into their budget.

Santorelli is a good fit with them, can play really any position up front and across their top 9

I think they help both spots here, good trade for both teams IMO

Don't know a lot about Leipsic, but he sounds like a Paul Byron energy player. It's a good trade for both teams.

Well the price for UFA d-men has been set.

Sekera, Petry and Michalek should all be moved shortly.

That's a fine return for two upcoming UFAs. Solid deal from both sides I think. Nashvilles blueline looks ridiculous.

Poor Olli.

Damn the Preds and Jets must have the scariest Right side D-corps in the league.

Jets: Byfuglien, Myers, Trouba
Pred: Weber, Jones, Franson

What's the price? I think TO got a first and prospect for 2 players that would have gone for 2nds. Is the price a 2nd round pick or is that just me thinking that?

What did the Predators get for Franson originally?

So basically Stajan + Reinhart + 1st

I think the only thing that would have kept Brad pulling the trigger to bring Franson to Calgary would have been that 1st rounder.

Great deal for the Preds, they look extremely strong with their D.
