Has anybodyelse's cell phone been calling other random numbers that has the same first 3 numbers on it? Ive had this happen for years now but havent bothered learning more till now.

I called Rogers about this. This is a known problem with people spoofing numbers and calling out to other numbers with the same first 3 digits. There isn't really much they can do about this unless they find out who is doing it. Just don't pick up numbers you don't recognize I guess.

Yea, ive had it happen before, called the number back and the guy said he didn't call me, hasn't happened in a while though, (probably will now though, lol)

Also 5-6 months ago a bunch of friends and I kept receiving phone calls from each other even though we weren't calling, caused for a confusing couple of hours.

That's the thing. At my work it looks like somebody within my organization is calling me. With my cell a lot of people at my work have the same prefix, so it could also be one of them. Sure- you could say that they should be in my contact list. However the one time the CEO called me because he couldn't get ahold of my bosses, it was good that I picked up.

Well from my understanding, it's nothing more than an annoyance if you pick it up - it's just telemarketing/phone scam. And there really is no saying that they didn't spoof your CEO's number. If someone asks for your SIN and credit card #'s, it's probably not your CEO, lol...

Thanks for posting this. I was thinking it was a wind mobile thing initially. One time I answered and the person was calling me back because I supposedly called them. Looks like caller ID has been hacked

What I meant was- the CEO did actually call me; from a number with the same prefix as my own. It was on a weekend, and a call came into my cell that only showed the number. As it turned out the CEO hadn't been able to get ahold of any of my managers, and I was able to help him out.

So had I followed the previous advice of "Just don't pick up numbers you don't recognize"- it would have negatively impacted my company. As you said the calls are more of an annoyance than anything. As much as I prefer to not receive the annoyance calls, sometimes you just have to answer anyway.
