Default Crime surge in Red Deer

Has anyone else noticed that Red Deer has made the news a lot lately? What's going on up there, is the oil and gas slowdown affecting them more than, say, Ft Mac?

I went to fight a ticket there at the courthouse this year. The neck tattoos per capita is out of control there for every age group!

I have a buddy that lives there and he said its been bad for 2 years now. So many car prowlings and break-ins. He chased one guy out of his garage recently. Good thing he didn't catch him. My friend is a rather large guy with hands the size of a grizzly. His first would cover a lot of a person's face.

Ft. Mac still has work and a lot of the people there are migrant workers anyway and just go back out east when their contracts run out.

Red Deer is a service town for all the O&G economic activity between Northern and Southern Alberta. A lot of people are permanent residents with no where to go when the economy tanked.
