Default GAME 7 : STAMPEDERS vs Hamilton TigerCats

Another trap game for the Stampeders. The last time they played this season was at McMahon Stadium and the Stampeders barely won the game 10-7. Thanks to the botched field goal by Hamilton, Stampeders survived that game with a win. Hoping for a better game from the Stamps this time.

OFFENSE :

QB Bo Levi Mitchell played his best game this season last week against the Ottawa RedBlacks. BLM threw 36 times and connected 26 for 289 yards with 3 TD pass and 1 rushing TD on a fake field goal. He seems to have good connection with R Marquay McDaniel (caught 9 passes for 117 yards and 1 TD) and R Jeff Fuller (caught 5 passes for 60 yards and 1 TD). Unfortunately in the 2nd half of the game they only scored 3 field goals so BLM works is still in progress.
Two more RBs went down last week. Martell Mallett left with groin injury and was put on a 6-games injured list. RB/Ret Jock Sanders is going to miss this game due to an injury. He was actually banged up after Game 5. I guess the ball is now in the hands of RB Hugh Charles (ex-Eskimos and ex-Riders) who Stamps signed a few weeks ago. FB Rob Cote and FB Tim St.Pierre will back him up. I don't think the Stampeders would want to tire Charles too much so WR/Ret Segerick Cunningham is going to be playing vs Hamilton.
He's back!! SB Nik Lewis draws in the lineup tomorrow and so as OG Edwin Harrison who is replacing OG Stanley Bryant(injured).

Calgary offense ranks 2nd best in CFL in points scored with 26.8 pts and they'll be playing Hamilton's defense who is 3rd worst team in the CFL in giving up points.

IN : RB Hugh Charles, SB Nik Lewis and OG Edwin Harrison.
OUT : RB/Ret Jock Sanders, RB Martell Mallett, OG Stanley Bryant.

DEFENSE :

Defense has been playing awesome game in 4 of their 6 games played so far. They rank first in least points allowed and also rank first in TD allowed. DB Brandon Smith leads the team with 32 tackles while Charleston Hughes has a sack in each of Calgary's 6 games. DB Jamar Wall played well last week vs Ottawa with 3 tackles, 1 INT and 1 knockdown pass. Safety Josh Bell also had an INT last week.
Defense will have to stop a dual threat QB LeFevour who can run(100 rushing yards in 2 of 3 games this season) and who can also pass the ball. RB CJ Gable can also run and catch the ball. I guess stopping those two would be great but I hope Stamps D does not forget the Stamps' killer R Fantuz is playing.

IN : DL Ben D'Aguilar, LB Maalik Bomar, DT Demonte Bolden
OUT : LB Glenn Love, DB Adam Thibault, DT Corey Mace

SPECIAL TEAM :

Jock Sanders will be replace by Cunningham as the main returner for this game. Anthony Parker, Marquay McDaniel and Hugh Charles will also have a chance as a returner. We'll see if the Stamps will miss Sanders in this game.
ST coverage been good so far this season. Against Hamilton, they will have to contain the Special Team Player of the Week Brandon Banks. In the game early this season, Banks actually made a bad mistakes in the second half by trying to run the ball from the end zone only to be stopped at a one or two yard line I believe.

Game Time : Saturday, August 16 at 1pm MDT at Ron Joyce Stadium (Home of McMaster University Marauders)

Televised at TSN in Canada and ESPN3 in the US

GAME NOTES :

CALGARY

OUT : RB Jon Cornish(concussion), RB Matt Walter(concussion), RB Jock Sanders(rib), RB Martel Mallett(groin), WR Maurice Price(broken finger), LT Stanley Bryant(knee), OL Branden Craighead(sprained ankle), DT Corey Mace(turf toe), DT DeQuin Evans(hamstring), LB Glenn Love(hamstring), LB Max Caron(knee).

HAMILTON :

OUT : QB Zach Collaros(head), RB CJ Gable(leg), WR Quincy McDuffie(undisclosed), OL Joel Figueroa(undisclosed), WR Cary Koch(undisclosed), OL Greg Wojt(lower body), OL Peter Dyakowski(knee), WR Giovanni Aprile(undisclosed), LB Marcellus Bowman, DE Eric Norwood, DB Neil King, DE Brandon Thurmond, DE Brandon Boudreaux, DT Terrence Moore, DT Hasan Hazime, DT Michael Atkinson(all injuries undisclosed).

*********************************
Watch for this match-up :

DB Brandon Smith will be shadowing Ticats R Andy Fantuz all game.

Ticats LB Taylor Reed vs Stamps RB Hugh Charles

Stamps WR Jeff Fuller vs Ticats CB Delvin Breaux

Stamps DE Charleston Hughes vs Ticats Offensive Line

Stamps need to establish the running game at the beginning of the game. If that fails, it is going to be a long day for QB Bo Levi Mitchell as the Ticats D will go after him on pretty much every single play. Stamps D needs to keep pressuring LeFevour and also try to make him throw the ball on a panic run. He is good with the ball but if he keeps running for his life, he'll bound to make mistakes and throw an INT. I really think Calgary will win this game and dominate. They learned their lesson on their first game (hopefully) and won't ease up on this guys.

GO STAMPS GO!!!!

Bit of an uneasy feeling about this one...odd start time in a completely inadequate stadium and of course the RB injuries.

That being said, I look for Nik Lewis to make a statement today and announce he isnt done yet. If he does that and Charles can run for anything around 100+ yds AND they hold on to the football, they will win.

This game is going to be hard to watch with this camera angle.

I have Hamilton winning this one unfortunately.

Great drive. I liked that Bo didn't try to force anything in there and used his feet on that drive. Need more of that rather than him feeling the pressure and making bad throws.

I Always thought LeFevour will be the starter for Hamilton this season then they signed Collaros. I think he is a good QB.

Crap!! I thought Fuller made that TD catch but give that Hamilton DB credit for making him dropped the ball.

What's the deal with the camera angle? I feel like I'm watching a high school game taped by a parent

Pretty good 1st 30 for the boys. Gotta stiffen up on D a bit and they should win this thing fairly easily. BLM having a great day.

Offense was good in the first half and BLM is getting the time and looks to throw the ball. It could have 3 TD passes already if it wasn't for that good defensive play by the DB on Fuller earlier. I hope offense keeps on going in the 2nd half.

Defense I thought is doing well and I think LeFevour is playing well in the 1st half. Need to tighten up a little bit more and stop LeFevour in this half.

Calgary 17-7 after the first half.
