Default Flames change ECHL affiliate

As per an article in the Calgary herald. Moved from Alaska to Colorado.

That's too bad. The coaches can no longer threaten to exile players to Alaska if they play poorly.

Alaska Aces was a catchy name though.

Closer to Adirondack. Works for me. Always thought it weird having an affiliate near polar bears.

It was kind of cool having an affiliate in Alaska, but I was never a fan of having prospects (especially goalies) playing on international ice. I haven't seen anything about the specifications of the Budweiser Events Center in Colorado, but, assuming it's an NHL-sized rink, this is a good move.

Our ECHL affiliate's arena is bigger then the AHL affiliate's arena...

Ralph Backstrom is the founder of hockey in Northern Colorado and he's usually in attendance at every game. http://coloradoeagles.com/team/front-office/?office=1

The Budweiser Events center is less than 10 minutes from our house and it is an NHL sized ice surface. Home games are typically all sellouts and the barn holds 5289 cow bell ringing fans for hockey.

One hour north of Denver and one hour south of Cheyenne, Wyoming.

I watched the Alaska Aces lose there last season with Olivier Roy between the pipes.

At least we continue the trend of our ECHL team having sweet jerseys.

When it was evident that the whole organization was undergoing restructuring and evaluation, I didn't think that included the ECHL

Good grief, those Colorado Eagles!

Home of the famous (or infamous) Eagles Chicks.

Heads up: The next bit of the organization to be restructured might just be the ice girls.

Elea and Monique are good quality. Melissa S. however, is the opposite.

If you name your daughter Aspen, having her end up as an Eagle's Chick is the best possible outcome.

The only cheerleading squad in hockey to be roundly ridiculed by the famous Bush League Factor:

Hey, that puts them closer to being famous than any other minor-hockey cheerleaders.
