Not worth it. Montreal was in a corner. Yes, Norris....blah blah blah but Id much rather have a lessor top pairing D and money to spread around.

I think his contract looks bad the first few years, but I think the signing wasn't bad.

9 mil is the new 7. Nothing wrong with the $ or the term.

This made having two threads on this worth it.

What was the point of going to arbitration if they were going to give the player what he wanted anyways?

Because what Subban thought he could get for one year in arbitration is most certainly not what he wanted in a long-term contract.

I have a feeling this won't end well for Montreal.

Good deal. Might suck for the last 3 years but they got a top 10 dman through his prime years. If they can teach him to take less bad penalties he'll really be worth it.

I think that Bennett should've shown more initiative at the combine, kind of ridiculous that he couldn't even do one pull up.

I'm wondering that as well. They may have felt the pressure in Montreal and reacted to the criticism and caved.

I have lost an awful lot of respect for the Habs organization over the last couple of years.

How they've treated Subban is one of the reasons.

What does this have to do with the Subban contract?
Back to the topic at hand. This is what you have to pay for a game changing player and Subban is just that. Offensively outstanding, defensively mediocre, physically punishing. He's a player you can build around and when Markov retires that'll open up some cap room which makes this contract not so bad. Subban should be able to play with almost any other type of d man
