Default Toyota Venza or Nissan Rouge 2014

Both Venza XE and Rouge SL AWD are coming out to be same price for me. Toyota is giving me 0% finance whereas Rouge is 1.99%.

I will appreciate if you guys can give me some input in choosing the right one. This will be my primary vehicle for next 5 years atleast.

I apologies for creating a new thread for this but before spending some $$, getting advice from wise people will be a great idea.

Did you drive them both, and have a preference either way? Are they both a 4 cylinder engine, similar AWD package?

Do they have pretty much identical warranties? Can you get the dealers to throw in something extra to sway you one way or the other.

Otherwise, if the prices are identitcal, I think go with 0% financing. As far as I know the Toyota should have at least the same ability to hold resale as the Nissan.

Test drove both this year and disliked both.

Ended up buying a Murano for the extra space and the AWD V6, though I do know the Venza has an available AWD V6, it just felt like a sedan bulked up 30%. The Rogue is too thin (that #### rolls!).

I drive a Venza for work quite often, not good on gas and has blind spots in the back. Rides nice and has get up and go though.

Yeah almost $9000 in repairs to my Murano's CVT, which thankfully was just a few months under the 10 year extended warranty Nissan put on the CVTs. EDIT: Should say it is a 2003.

I've heard the last ~5 years of CVTs have less issues, esp with the cracking that they used to see, but who knows how a 2009+ fares after 10 years at this point.

I like the Venza and I was considering purchasing one but I picked up a Ford Flex instead. A couple things I didn't like about the Venza were that some of the interior plastics gave it a cheap feeling and the 20 inch rims seemed overkill to me (replacement tire costs would be significant.)

*Rogue

It took me a few seconds to realize there wasn't a Nissan vehicle that was named after the colour red in French.

The Rogue is basically the updated X-Trail from 8 or so years ago. I've driven one since new. Other than the speedometer being in the middle of the dash and a heater/AC fan that isn't quite powerful enough it's been a great vehicle. I've got 200,000km on mine, solid vehicle.

I have never driven the Rogue but I took a Venza on a test drive. It drove fine but felt more like a minivan. It seemed sluggish and heavy compared to the Rav (V6). And the 20" rims are overkill as someone else mentioned.

If it were me, I would probably go with the Rogue over the Venza but that's just me as I am not a huge fan of toyota nor am I a huge fan of Nissan. Also, if you do decide to go after the Rogue, go to Sunridge Nissan and ask for Jeremy Pon or Billy Yan. I know those two and hopefully they can give you a good discount for me recommending you to them.

Not a fan of the Rogue...my Mazda 3 has better zip and handling.

Murano is a far better drive, but of course a different price point.

I don't know why but I was told the Murano is more of a girls kind of car. Don't judge me on that, it's just what I was told.

The Rogue is for pre-menopausal ladies and the Murano is for post-menopausal ladies.

My MIL is on her 4th Murano already (It drives me insane that she would buy the same car so many times in a row) and she loves it. I've driven it a few times, and while it has the CUV tipsiness that comes in the category, it is quite comfortable, well appointed, and rides nicely. Some huge pillars though so visibility can be terrible.

My cousin has the Nissan Qashqai, which is the euro version of the Rogue. It felt kind of drove rough and felt cheap and plasticky inside. Not a fan.

No kidding about the pillars, I almost smoked a guy on a bike once with our Murano, his speed and direction and my head motion while looking over to see and trying to look around the A pillar before turning were perfectly in sync, I did not see him at all he was 100% behind the A pillar the whole time. Good thing I checked another time while pulling into the intersection.

Now I look over for longer just in case something is hiding behind it.

Yeah the first thing I bought for my Murano were some blindspot mirrors, because goddamn merging to the left feels like a crapshoot half the time.

That said, the mirrors were like 10$ and work like a charm.

I'm not entirely sure who exactly the Murano is for though. You could call it an old-lady car, but it feels a lot more like a Dadmobile to me. Mine came with the "Entertainment" package, and the thing literally has 9 Bose speakers, and 2 subwoofers. Damn thing pounds.

I have the 2014 Rogue good on gas, I got the SL fully loaded.. It's quite roomy compared to the older model rogues that some friends have. Been driving it for two months now. Came from a 2006 SUV so it's quite a change from all the new technology
