It was registered to Club Nintendo, so no - the serial number can't be registered for Club Nintendo coins, but my NNID has been unlinked, and the system itself has been completely wiped. Other than not getting the reward coins for registering the serial number, I don't believe there's any other sort of impact on the new owner.
