The Toronto Maple Leafs organization truly is a juggernaut in the game of hockey. Despite the fact that the club is the owner of the longest Stanley Cup drought in the NHL today with the last title coming in 1967, they remain the league’s most valuable franchise. According to Forbes.com, the Maple Leafs are the 26th most valuable team in all of sports at an estimated worth of $1.15 billion.
According to Forbes, it has only been since 2005 that Toronto became the league’s most valuable team. The club has only continued to increase in worth since.

The NHL would be screwed without us. It's crazy to have only 1 team in S. Ontario.

Other teams haven't been around since eternity though. Before 1967 there weren't any other non-winning teams fans to speak of, so technically Leafs fans have been the ones waiting the longest. For me a teams clock starts the year they come into the league.
If we consider only non-winners, St. Louis would be the longest (and also the Stars, if you look at them as a franchise, instead of city).

The only thing I love about the Leafs is watching Canucks fans get pissed off when the majority of the crowd at Rogers arena is blue and white rather than blue and green at a Nucks/Leafs game, and happen to be louder than the hometown crowd for every hit, turnover, breakaway, and goal.
It's beautiful.

Is there any other team on that list as futile as Toronto relative to the money it makes?
The Maple Leafs being a money making machine is nothing new... I have just always found it funny that such a huge consumer base is so loyal to (and will pay top dollar) for such an inferior product.

I just wanted to take a shot at the Canucks. Go away with your factual logic.

Red Sox have had success recently but prior to 2004 they would have been much worse than the Leafs, Knicks are 13th on the list and haven't won since 1973 so not much better, the New York Jets are 14th and haven't won since 1968 so slightly better, the Eagles at 17 have never won the Super Bowl and haven't won a league title since 1960, Cubs at 21 and I think everyone know their history.

The consolation was to take a shot at the Leafs though. It's win/win really.

They would be fine because there would be another TO team in their place as fast as people could get 500 million into the league to buy a team.
Although not as dire as Big Tuna makes it out to be (not surprising) the league would be worse off if for some reason there was no team in TO.

What?
The Blues are the only surviving 1967 expansion team without a Cup. The Leafs last won the Cup in 1967, so both teams' Cup drought is the same length.
The Blues at least played in the Finals a few times, the Leafs haven't even done that since 1967.

Read the history behind those 3 straight finals appearances. It was given to them. A complete joke.

Those teams get so much money from the Leafs. I think you guys scoffing at my comments have no idea how great the Leafs are for the NHL financially.

The Blues first chance to win was in 1968 (remember, 67-68 was the season), so that's one full year after the Leafs won the cup in 67 (66-67 season).
You're right about the Stars. Brain cramp.
