Whenever I hear about Tyler Ennis I think of Greg Nemisz.

That seems like a ton of money for a one-dimensional ok scorer who would lose a fight/pick battle with a feather.
I know Buffalo has deep pockets and a lot of space but you would think in 3 years they would want something better than Tyler Ennis as a key guy after two + years of sucking and at 4.6 million hard to justify him not being a top 6 guy for you.

So, the Sabres buy out the ridiculous contracts of 2011, only to give out more ridiculous contracts in 2014?

A close comparable would be Adam Henrique, signed at a 4 million cap hit (a few years ago, too). It's not a bargain but it's not a bad deal either. Ennis scored 20 goals on a complete crap team last season. Not unreasonable to expect he'd be hitting 30+ in the last couple years of this deal.

This is not a ridiculous contract at all. Ennis is solid young player.
The cap is 69 million and will be going up...I swear some people still think is 39 million.

What does "tiny" have to do with it? Burke is that you?
Seriously though he's a 45-50pt player..contract is about right.

It was reference to him being one-dimensional
And he has hit 45 points ONCE - 4 years ago
And this is an RFA contract not a UFA signing

He got ice time on a crap team.
Will he get the same opportunities on a good team?

Tiny has to do with the fact that he loses puck battles, has a hard time taking the puck off people, is muscled out of the way when playing defense and therefore doesn't offer much outside of his mediocre (for a top 6 guy) scoring numbers.
Just because you hate Burke is everyone supposed to act as though size isn't an asset in the NHL and being 150 lbs. soaking wet can't cause issues?

His best season of 49 points so far was in 2011 when Buffalo made the playoffs.

too long and too much. Maybe Tim Murray sees something in him that we haven't seen. I think 3 years max for $3M should be enough. I guess we will see next season if the contract is deserving.

I'd take Henrique over Ennis, by a good margin...better D and takes face-offs.

Glencross is going to get PAID at the end of the upcoming season if Tyler Ennis is getting 4.6M AAV for 5 years.

NHL.com and hockeydb have him at 170. Still small but quite a difference from 150.
