Default What team got better??

What team got better today? a couple stand outs for me was...
1) AVs- liked their signings
2) St Louis got stronger
3) Chicago did , not that they needed it
4) Florida & Buffalo might actually have a team, good for flames

With bulk of the big FA names gone, who's left. MOre importantly the teams that did not get better or stayed pat, wonder if they will re-think

Not sure if flames got better, I guess we get scoring by committee, we did add size and grit. Top 3 pick potential next year and save some dollars with no big long term contracts that will hand cuff us. Draft was solid this year. Overall we are making progress and if hockey is as entertaining as last year, will be a happy camper!
And leaving enough room for our up and comers to work hard and earn a spot, luv the motivation!

Tampa is going to be a tough team to play against next year. And they have lots of assets to use at the deadline.

I think St. Louis did well in getting Stastny, even though he's still not really the star/franchise player they may have needed. But if Jake Allen is as good as management keeps on saying then they should be able to do more next year than just putting up a good regular season record. Anything less than winning two rounds will be seen as a massive failure in my view.

This. Filled a ton of holes today with quality players.

Honestly I think the Avs took a slight step back. Got a bit slower if you ask me.

The Sens got way worse. We might have competition for McDavid next year.

Dallas and Florida got way better.

Calgary I think stayed about the same. Maybe a bit better but not by much.

I think Dallas and Florida and unfortunately the Canucklehead improved as well with Ryan Miller signing.

I don't think the flames got better at all. If anything, with the moves that the other bottom teams made, I'd say the flames took a step back.

lotta movement, obvious winners thus far for me are the teams that traded to get their Centers (anaheim/dallas), the ufa deals seem difficult to actually determine winners from.

will say that i'm sorta shocked at the pens so far. i thought the erhoff deal was great but expected them to be much busier on trying to solidify their wings with talent. Thought they'd be in on guys like hemsky, havlat, cammalleri, vanek, moulson, etc.

for a franchise that is in extreme win now, and a GM that got thrown out for not being able to round out the roster with the talent and toughness to do much in the playoffs, the new regime has started off pretty quiet. must be more to their plan some where...

as far as the flames go, think they got worse as raymond doesn't come close to replacing cammalleri as a upper echelon scoring threat, and i think engellend is about equal to butler all things considered. Hiller definitely solidify's the goaltending. Will be curious to see who wins out the starting role.

the forward/defense is 90% the same guys as last year with the additions of raymond/bollig/engellend, and the removal of cammalleri/westgarth/butler and perhaps byron if he counts (only here for part of the season). Assuming a bit of a sophmore slump from monahan, and not expecting any kids to come up and light the score sheet up, it could actually get pretty grim.

As of now, the team is trending towards another lottery pick. I also feel that is just fine. Next offseason is likely where we see the flames not only get what could be a generational pick in the draft, but also having some kids stepping in and owning critical roles with the big club, and looking to make a splash or two to really improve the defense.

What about hanafin(?). It looks like a lot of teams got better but it's still early. I think the stars got a lot better today and could be a pretty decent team this year.

The most important thing is that the Islanders didn't sign anyone of importance.

If there is any team I want to lose every single night, it's them.

it's a tough choice...

hate garth snow, i am fairly certain at least a 3rd of CP's heavy posters could do a better job jumping in and being the GM than him. he seems.... nicest way to put it i suppose is dumb.

love tavares and want him to do well.

islanders were really quiet, especially when you gotta think snow has a gun to his head to do well this year or he's gone.

Not a touch choice for Sabres fans.

Just this one year. Lose, lose, lose every game.

I thought buffalo improved a lot, they might even be a respectable team next season AND have a ton of first rounders.

Edmonton should be better as well, but not exactly good because, well, you know...
