Playoff Race Spreadsheet - March 5, 2015
Might be a bit early for this, but what the hell. The sheet includes the schedules for Calgary, Vancouver, LA, San Jose, Minnesota and Winnipeg. Use the radio buttons to pick the outcome of each game and then click the sort button to update the final standings. Here's the link to the excel file:
http://www.calgarypuck.com/wp-conten...-March-05.xlsm
The sorting function is a macro, so you'll need to enable macros for it to work.
A couple notes:
- I assumed Nashville, St. Louis and Chicago will be the top three teams in the Central
- Two way ties in points with a difference in ROW will be properly sorted. For three way ties or two way ties with tied ROW, the points will be right but the order in the standings might be wrong.
Normally Bingo does this, so hopefully I'm not stepping on any toes. Big shout out to Photon for helping me with the link.
Try it out and PM if you find any bugs. I'll fix them and ask Photon to repost the link if necessary.

Looks pretty good, but I encountered a bug somehow:
5 VAN 98 43
6 LA 96 40
7 MIN 95 41
8 CGY 94 41
9 CGY 94 41
10 WPG 92 34
Obviously SJ and CGY tied in points and ROW in this scenario, so it doesn't really matter. Just thought I'd mention it.

Wow that's better than my old version! Well done!
Love the work, but too early for me, I think I'd lose my mind if I had to do this for a full month.
Close though ... guessing 12 games to play and I've living this!

Thanks!
Yeah, it's early, I know. What can I say, pretty pumped at the potential for some unexpected playoff hockey. I'll fix any bugs that are found and repost when teams have ~ 12 games left. Now that it's done, it'll only take me a couple minutes to make changes.

I always love these because I make my predictions and then update the actual results as they happen.
For example, I initially predicted/expected a loss in Detroit last night and ultimately finishing with 94 points.
Suddenly with an unexpected win, the Flames are on a 96 "pace" according to my predictions.

I can't seem to get it to work on my phone. Apparently xlsm isn't recognized by office mobile?

This was an interesting exercise.
I have the Jets totally falling off the map and the Canucks cruising to 99 points.
Minnesota makes it easily. I had the Flames fairly easily edging out both the Sharks and Kings with 98 points, with the Sharks taking the last wildcard spot and the Kings and Jets on the outside looking in.
This will be fun to update as we go.

It's the sort macro that's doing it. When I go to repost it with ~12 games left I'll see if I can figure out how to do the sort without the macro and just use a regular excel file. And, if that's the case I might just put it in google docs so everyone can use it.

Sharks final 6 games: Col Ari Ari Dal Edm LA
That worries me.

Could be mistaken, but I'm not sure if this spreadsheet accounts for OTL properly...
For example, if on March 27th, Calgary beats MIN in OT, we get +1 ROW, but MIN is automatically credited with a L on the spreadsheet, rather than an OTL loser point

The way things have been going for the Sharks it will be what happens in the 10 games before those 6. It just may be unattainable at that point. Sitting 5 points out from the Flames right now and the Flames have the ROW advantage right now.

There were a couple of instances like this. I'll have it fixed for when the sheet gets updated.
EDIT: Just looked at this specfic instance, and it looks right to me...

I like it. It is fun to do and it changes daily as the guessing of games is never accurate.

Thanks for doing this. You should include Dallas as part of the race.
