Icon25 Habs trade Briere to Avs for PA Parenteau and 5th

Renaud Lavoie @renlavoietva
PA Parenteau échangé au Canadien contre Daniel Brière. #canadiens #avalanche #tvasports

Bob McKenzie @TSNBobMcKenzie
MTL acquires P.A Parenteau from COL. I believe Daniel Briere is headed to COL in return.

Believe it or not, Eklund broke this trade and was talking about it earlier today as well.

Roy and Sakic really did not want Parenteau.

Identical cap hits this year. PAP has an extra year on his deal.

Gross. I thought Parenteau would get a whole lot more in return than an over the hill Briere.

5th also going to the Avs

Canadiens Montréal @CanadiensMTL
Canadiens acquire Pierre-Alexandre Parenteau and a 5th round pick in 2015 from Colorado, for Daniel Brière.->> goha.bs/1r73UX4

Makes me think the Parenteau for Bourque rumors a few months ago were in fact true

I would much rather PAP over Briere at this point.

Seems like a really good trade for the Habs.

Big win for Montreal

Wonder why Roy was so desperate to get Parenteau off his team

The guy has broken a few other trades before as well. He obviously has some connections so give the guy a tiny bit of credit when its due.

this is the only thing that worries me. I've hated the Briere signing since it happened. Happy to be rid of another tiny forward for a team that has way too many of them.

Good move for the Habs.

Parenteau has been a 0.75 PPG player over the last 4 seasons. He is small too and doesn't help them improve in that area, but he will improve their offense.

Ancient Briere worth more than Parenteau who is only a couple years removed from 67 points. PLUS a 5th round pick…not a great deal for the Avs.

I think Montreal gets the better player overall, but the Avs are looking to the playoffs and Briere is probably a better fit for them at the moment.

Briere is going to hate being in the West.

Interesting that the 5th is going with Parenteau. Even if Parenteau has one more year at 4M after this, his point totals in the regular season have been better than Briere. Not too bad during the playoffs too.

When did 6 foot and 195 pounds become "tiny"? Is this the NFL here or did I miss something?

The alternative was buying him out...which wouldn't work as they reportedly have an internal budget.
