Flames Flames decide not to renew Goalie Coach Clint Malarchuk's contract

I remember Malarchuk left the Flames last season due to some health issues

Darren Dreger @DarrenDreger
Good to hear Eli Wilson in the hunt for some of the NHL's goalie coach jobs. Wilson has talked with Calgary and Buffalo as well as others...

update:
Scott Cruickshank @CruickshankCH
#Flames have decided to not renew the contract of goalie coach Clint Malarchuk.

They did a good job of keeping it under wraps if he did. Hopefully it's nothing overly serious and he gets back in the game soon.

Yeah I can't remember any news about Malarchuk leaving. Too bad, hopefully he can come back. His reaction during the Torts incident was priceless.

That said...

Kipper! Come teach Ramo and Ortio to be like you.

Any chance Treliving wants to pry Sean Burke out of Phoenix?

I think Burke's son is a goalie prospect for Phoenix - I doubt he leaves, plus he is the assistant to the GM.

Doubt it... there are rumors that Sean Burke is in line to become an AGM in Phoenix.

That's too bad. It would be fun reading other message boards hating on Burke, and then having to specify which one every time they do so.

Interesting. Eli used to be based in Calgary (not sure if he still is) -- Ray Emery credited a lot of his success to him. Don't know if he speaks Finnish though

Hmmm...

Pure speculation on my part, but whether or not that new Kipper Twitter (@Mkiprusoff) was ever proven to be fake or legitimate, there was a tweet saying "Very big announcement coming soon."

Found it.

Malarchuk was given leave by the Flames to deal with personal issues at the end of March:

Malachuk is probably planning a hit on Tortorella.

I vaguely remember that, but I thought that leave was only temporary. He's still listed on the coaching staff on the website, for what it's worth. Hope everything's okay with Clint.

It's definitely fake.

His finnish is awful in that account, straight from google translator.

Eli Wilson was part of the Hockey Canada consulting group from 2004-07 with Sean Burke. He could have some connections to Brad Pascall and Brad Treliving.

We had a goalie coach in Abbotsford as well. He seemed to do okay with Ortio.
