2014 Draft Party
Hi guys, I was in Canada for last year's draft but was away for the weekend in Whistler so I was wondering if there is an official draft party anywhere? From a quick scout on google, I've noticed there seems to be one usually in Flames Central. If so, is it any good? I know a lot of the NBA teams open up their stadium and have lots of things for the kids etc so I was wondering if this was the case with the NHL.

No, no, I think you got it wrong - Edmonton holds the Annual First Overall Pick Parade.

Flames had one planned last year, a first as I recall but it was to be held at Duttons. The flooding of the Saddledome lead to its cancelation.

Hopefully I'll attend a "Stanley Cup Champions" party again in my lifetime.
Draft party? Why would I want to celebrate suckage? Leave the draft party to the sweat pants and bruised legs up north.

Booooooo, The only team that should have a draft party is Anaheim. Playoffs and a top 10 pick.
That's Winner.

My draft party will be watching it live on the big tube at home and hollering like a madman at the TV while mashing my keyboard in excitement when Treliving announces Sam Reinhart is a Flame. Then I'll go about my usual things with the radio tuned in the rest of the afternoon to catch our second and third round picks.
We ain't no Edmonton.

People get this all wrong. The party Edmonton has is a draft lottery party. The flames are picking 4th that is determined so I don't see anything against people getting together to watch. The worst is after a failed season gathering to celebrate a 30th place finish to see if they get the top pick. The NHL draft is full of trades/speculation and is the most entertaining non-hockey event of the year IMO.
